The Santa Fe Foundation is a long-time, trusted partner of STC and our Culinary Arts Department. Annually, this foundation awards the college thousands to put toward student scholarships.

This morning, that partnership positively impacted three, very deserving students, who were each awarded a scholarship that will help them finish their degrees in the coming year and enter an in-demand career.

Thank you, Santa Fe Foundation and STC Foundation forr always supporting our students and putting their education first.

This morning we celebrated our first STC Starr County Police Academy cohort.

The first 13 cadets are the foundation of a program that will continue to grow to serve the Starr County region. They will train to serve and protect the RGV and their communities.

A big thank you to our STC Foundation for donating $13,000 to cover each cadet’s tuition.

This is only the beginning.

Despite tonight’s storms, we hope all of our Jag Family is safe out there…we got the chance to join our friends at the City of Weslaco, for the State of the City Address.

Our Mid-Valley campus serves many of the residents in that area and we are proud of the growth and the many accomplishments Weslaco and surrounding communities have seen.

Congratulations Mayor Adrian Gonzalez and everyone who serves the city of Weslaco.

Classroom to commerce was the topic at today’s event at the Embassy Suites in McAllen hosted by Institute for Leadership in Capital Projects.

Alongside my counterpart Dr. Guy Bailey, president of UTRGV - The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, we discussed how our institutions and the economic power of education are impacting the RGV.

STC Trustee Paul Rodriguez also joined the conversation as a member of a panel that explored collaboration across K-12, community colleges and universities.
