Remembering a very special morning shared with our GSES community and families last week. We are so proud of our graduates, as well as our rising 8th graders who sent them off to the next chapter with love. Thank you to everyone who helped make the ceremony possible and shared the day with us!

Thank you to the James River Park System education team for sharing their time and knowledge with our fifth graders! Students visited the JRPS Headquarters for a tour of the nature center, followed by a lesson in water quality testing where Reedy Creek flows into the James. We are so grateful for this wonderful learning environment right in our neighborhood. 🌳

A huge shout-out goes to these Good Shepherd students, faculty, and families who ran in the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation 5k and Fun Walk! Despite the pouring rain, they braved the weather and helped make it a memorable and successful day!
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and we've been making some special deliveries this week! Lower School students made wildflower seed bombs and greeting cards for our wonderful Forest Hill neighbors, and 2nd and 3rd grade students filled up the Little Free Pantry at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church as well. We love being a part of the Forest Hill neighborhood, and we are grateful for everyone who makes it so special! 🌳
Congratulations to our 8th grade graduates! It was a special morning here at GSES as we graduated seven students, three of whom have been with us since Kindergarten. We wish the class of 2024 all the best as they move on to the next chapter!

Third graders are finishing out their year in Technology by building mechanical computers with the Turing Tumble! The Turing Tumble challenges students to solve logic puzzles using hands-on coding. Named for Alan Turing, the famous mathematician and computer scientist, this device engages students while teaching creative problem solving, logic, and engineering.

Happy Passover! Last week, we celebrated with a Passover themed chapel, filled with Hebrew songs, Jewish prayers, and parent Michal Coffey’s faith story. Our Grade 4 students led an interactive song, and Grade 5 students recited Psalm 23. During the school day, Grade 4-8 students experienced the Passover story and the Seder meal. We are grateful to Ms. Coffey for preparing and bringing various Seder food elements to enrich the Passover story for our students.
Round Three: certainly not least, thank you to our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and in particular O'Toole's Restaurant & Pub and Kitchenette for your generous donations. We also thank The Church of the Good Shepherd for your support and participation.
We can't wait to see you next year at the 2025 Chili Cook Off and Auction.
