We hope that this email finds you and yours doing well.
As we find ourselves in the first week of February 2022, Black History Month, we would like to honor and celebrate the significant contributions of Black leaders in the tennis community, including but not limited to 5-time Grand Slam champion Arthur Ashe, 11-time Grand Slam champion Althea Gibson, 23-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams, and 39-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams. Their legacies and stories continue to inspire our team each day.
We would also like to highlight that February 2nd was National Girls and Women in Sports Day, and we are so grateful for the many contributions of Head Coaches Anne Bages, Lisa Beckett, and Ann Lebedeff, as well as every member of the Pomona-Pitzer Women’s Tennis (PPWT) Team.
Finally, we wish you all a Happy Lunar New Year! May the Year of the Tiger bring you all good health, happiness, and prosperity.
Out in Claremont, California, we have just commenced the Spring 2022 season, and are excited to share a couple of updates on our new blog.
Introducing Our New Assistant Coach: Jada Hart
Jada Hart, from Colton, California, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations, as well as a Master of Education in Transformative Coaching and Leadership from UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). As a four-time ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) All-American in Division I, she reached a career-high national singles ranking of No. 9 twice, as well as a career-high national doubles ranking of No. 1 three times. To promote diversity, equity, inclusion, health, and wellness on campus, she was an Event Coordinator for UCLA’s Bruin Sports Business Association, a Co-Founder and Secretary of the BSAA (Black Student Athlete Alliance), a Social Media Outreach Coordinator for SAMs (Student Athlete Mentors), and a Student Leader for Bruin Ambassadors. In this blog article, Jada reflects on her experiences as both a tennis player and a coach, and offers some advice for high school athletes navigating the recruiting process.

Ye, Markey, and Zhou Claim ITA Fall Regional Titles CLAREMONT, Ca. – The women’s tennis team competed well at the ITA Fall Regional Championship behind big performances from Angie Zhou, Marissa Markey, and Nina Ye.
What a way to end our Fall ITA Regional Championships, with Men's and Women's Doubles Champions in front of an awesome crowd, side by side, only to also have an all Sagehens singles final, and finishing with Marissa Markey grinding it out in an A Consi Finals. So proud of these Hens.
