What Motives Me Now: My Hometown of Reading, PA 📍

Being creative requires a lot more energy than many can ever imagine. As an introvert and detail oriented person, I was stressed out and simply burnt myself out. I went running for answers and inspiration, only to realize remembering your origins is an incredible fuel.

Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Chris Leguizamon, first generation American, proud son of two blue collar workers Nelson and Luzandra, big brother to three gorgeous sisters, boyfriend to the girl of my dreams, and I was raised in the south side of the city of Reading, PA. Known for the Outlets and the Reading Railroad, every trip back home I find more and more things closing its doors. Being from Reading is a mentality. Nothing was ever handed to us, we beat out Detroit for the poorest city in the US one year, we had to go get it, prove the stereotype wrong, and carve it out ourselves. Remembering working 7 days a week when I first arrived to San Diego, sitting on a bus 4 hours was the daily commute, and igniting my passion for beer by reading Tasting Beer and Beer Advocate magazines. If ya know people from Reading, we collectively have that gotta go get it mentality.

Making others passionate about beer as I am has always been a true mission of mine. Excited to get back to work to not just talk about it but be about it. Nothing to it but put the work in!

As a self proclaimed house cat, a recent trip to Mt Laguna really opened my eyes to the beauty of nature. Once this heat wave is over, we are going to go on more SD excursions. An exciting talk of Belgian classics and San Diego contemporary examples! In case you missed it, it’s on IG TV 📺

This was my first one in a long time going solo but it was a ton of fun! Hope ya learn something and keep spreading the beer education vibes!

We talked about what defines the Authentic Trappist label, how Orval has never been brewed by monks, and the ever evolving properties of this highly prized.

Rodenbach Grand Cru is my desert beer...period. Their Foeder Forrest have inspired brewers from all around the world. The blending of matured and young was an incredible transition to lambic talk.

Super Kriek from Modern Times is super tasty! The talk of fruiting sours opened up secondary notes that may shine thru like cinnamon from cherry skins, matizarán notes from noyeaux, etc. Thanks to for sharing!

Celebrating time and place, Lief shows brilliance with California grains and SD county microflora. We got into the creation of the Methode Traditionnelle and how American breweries pay homage to this historical style.

During these times, find your happiness and peace of mind 📚❤️

I’ve always found when my life is chaotic, reading a book helps center me. Exploring beer culture is in its self exploring human history, agricultural patterns, taxation, science, and art... all wrapped under a cap or cork and cage. With my curious mind, I’ve set out to help advocate and inspire. Finding our purpose ignites our passion and vice versa 🔥

I’m doing an extended deep dive into the word of barrel aged sours specifically lambic, gueuze, Flanders red, and Oud Bruin. Are there any books or sections in beer books that you suggest for these topics? Researching a ton to make this next IG Live an unforgettable talk!

Thank you, for the incredible recommendation! On a recent stop at with , we were truly blown away by the bottle list and welcoming environment. Beyond stoked to try this Peach Afternoon out!

Exploring the Vibrant World of Belgium Beers this Sunday 🇧🇪🍻

This Sunday at 4 pm PST on IG Live, we will be exploring the adventurous and yeast driven beer realm of Belgium with Jeff Bagby of 🍻 For being such an incredible small country and conquered multiple times, the Belgian beer culture is extremely rich and ever changing. Jeff Bagby, an incredible beer advocate of tradition, will bring his expertise from his travels and long brewing history of what is the soul of this beer family. Definitely don’t miss out on this one!

My recent pause on was a sincere stop because big conversation had to be made. These weeks have been one to have the tough conversations of social injustice, police brutality, and importance of Black power matters. It’s been eye opening the amount of energy put to learning more of the issues and as an educator thats invigorating. Please do not be mindfully ignorant during these times that define our future. Listen, learn, and advocate ✊

What an epic cultural dive with Gene Fielden of 🍻🇩🇪 .
The whole purpose of this account is to highlight other beer professionals and Gene deserves all the praise he gets! Without his willingness to enlighten and answer all my dumb questions, I give him most of the credit for my success in the program.

In the latest session (now on IG TV), Gene and I relive stories of German beer gardens, cultural differences, and how distinguish certain styles. There is a gnarly echo that is resolved once we both put on head phones, btw! This was definitely one of those sessions that could have gone for hours because the vibe was just right. .
Kick back, grab a kolsch, and enjoy!

How This Chapter Taught Me A Life Lesson: Strengthen Your Weaknesses ✊

Reflecting on personal strengths are simple, admitting a weakness is tough. My blind spot in beer styles are front and center in this chapter: Kölsch and Hefeweizen 😬

The life lesson is putting pride aside and reaching out to others who are more well rounded in this area. Approaching Gene of was like turning on the lights in a dark room. He eagerly elaborated on German beer culture, pronunciations, and comparisons within the styles. Noticing your weak points in beer knowledge or life should inspire you, not weigh you down.

What’s one area of beer that you feel shaky on? 🤔
