[10/16/19]   Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can Achieve -- Napoleon Hill

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to WIN, but you think you can't.
It's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost.
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will --
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed (outseeded), you are.
You've got to think HIGH to RISE.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the Prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the Stronger or Faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins

--- Napoleon Hill

Good luck Coogs this Week!
Success Begins with a Thought!
So choose your thoughts carefully this week.
Keep the ones that SERVE YOU.
Delete the REST.

[10/14/19]   How do you Handle Adversity? Are you The Carrot, The Egg, or The Coffee Bean

A young player went to his coach and told her about his life and how things were so hard. The player did not know how he was going to make it and wanted to QUIT.

The player was tired of fighting and struggling. He complained. He whined. He was sooooo tired of it all. It seemed that, as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

The Coach took the player to the Kitchen.

The coach filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to a boil. In the first pot, the coach placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed a coffee bean. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word. In twenty minutes, she turned off the burners.

She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to the player, the Coach asked, "Tell me, what do you see?" "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," the tennis player replied. The coach brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft.

She then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The tennis player smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The Player then asked, "What does it mean, Coach?" Her Coach explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity -boiling water -but each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened!

The coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Am I the carrot that seems strong but, with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a forgiving heart, but changes with the heat? Did I roll with the punches but, after a loss, a breakup, or a friend gossips about me, does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better not bitter.

YOU change the situation around you. When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest, YOU elevate to another level.

How do you handle Adversity? Do you expect to win? Do you see the possibility in challenges? Do you look for the best in people?
Do you light up a room when you walk in or when you walk out?
Do elevator others to do their best?

Good luck this week!
I believe in you!
Mrs Lemmon
