Why apply progressive overload? Progressive overload is a key training application to enhance muscle growth and avoid plateaus. Progressive overload can happen in several ways. You can increase your volume by doing more reps, sets or exercises for a certain muscle group. You can increase tempo by working out at a quicker pace or with less rest time in between sets. Active recovery is when you do some sort of movement that is less intense than your regular workout days. That can mean anything like yoga or light stretching.
