Acrylic and Mixed media artist, Lauren Combs, gives group and private classes at Studio in the Woods, 26002 Budde Rd,77380. I am currently the president of the Woodlands Art League
I believe everyone can learn to create art either as a healing practice, an activity to enrich our lives, or as a full or part time career. My approach it to help those who join me in the studio to learn basic skills then develop a personal style to tell their stories. Art should be accessible, affordable, and available to all!

Come January I will have (very small and distanced) classes at both Conroe Art League and Woodlands Art League!
WAL has a new gallery/classroom on Sawdust Rd; classes there will be on Monday afternoons. They are the basic acrylic painting for beginners and intermediate students.
I will offer my 3 session quick start classes...all supplies included at the CAL gallery on Simonton St in downtown Conroe on Tuesday afternoons.
I will still offer private and semi-private lessons by arrangement in my own studio on Budde Rd, The Woodlands. These may be acrylic, mixed media, or even cold wax and oils depending on your interests.
Social distancing and masking will be required to keep us safe for the next months.

The Academy of Art, Creativity & Consciousness
What strikes me is the fact that in our society, art has become something which
is related only to objects and not to individuals, or to life. That art is something
which is specialized or which is done by experts who are artists. But couldn't
everyone's life become a work of art? Why should the lamp or the house be an
art object, but not our life?

Wow...have had a great response to my Tuesday day classes; they are now waitlisted and I may have to move them to the studio! If you are a former student who has class credits and who likes to drop in please let me know you are coming so I can configure the tables in the room!

[04/23/17] This Monday the class demo will be on acrylic pouring, using both pouring medium and Floetrol. There is still room to join this class. If students wish to try a pour rather than just watch and continue working on their pieces, you will need to bring a rigid surface such as a small plywood, canvas or Ampersand panel (11X14, 12 X 12...up to 16X20 if you bring a enough medium)....plus Liquitex pouring medium and your paints.Craft paints can work well with this technique. I have mixing cups, stirrers, gloves and boxes to act as pouring liners. It is recommended to leave the work in place at least overnight but if you want to bring it home you will need some way to carry it so it remains level and dust cannot land on it. I have found that pizza boxes (ask your shop for unused ones!) work admirably
