Many of our children have an IEP or 504 Plan for school. Here is a wonderful graphic that helps explain the difference between an IEP and 504 Plan. These individualized education plans help our children thrive in the school classroom and get the extra help they need. Remember, these plans do not stop at 12th grade! They can be utilized in college as well!
There is a lot of helpful information about IEPs and 504 Plans on our Ear Community website at the following link, including IFSPs (birth to 5 or kindergarten) and transitioning to an IEP and/or 504 Plan: https://earcommunity.org/helpful-resources/education/
Thank you!

Wow! What a great morning learning about Montgomery County’s strengths and challenges from Julie Martineau, TX
and Greater Houston Community Foundation at SHSU-The Woodlands Center.
All Ears! is working hard to help close that gap of only 57% of children are kindergarten ready by providing an exceptional, collaborative, language rich, preschool program for kids with hearing loss in our community.
Did you know we start working directly with the school districts when our kids are 3 to make sure they are ready to enter mainstream kindergarten?
Thank you for an insightful morning❣️
Wait what?! Texas weather is silly! Stormy weather yesterday but a SNOW DAY today❣️ We much prefer the fun snow. ☃️

Why You CAN’T Get OTC Hearing Aids For Kids The FDA has approved OTC hearing aids for adults but children can’t use OTC hearing aids for several reasons. Read why your child needs a professional.
Parents, check out this great resource to help you better understand the IEP process.
Begin the new year with AG Bell's January Parent Chat session on Thursday, January 19, 7:00pm CST.
"Understanding the ABCs and 123s of IEPs! What's Your Question?"
Many times, IEP teams come together and inundate parents with information without giving them the time they need to process the information and formulate questions. Parents often leave meetings with more questions than they went in with. Join Alex Mestres, a teacher of the deaf and educational specialist, as we slow it down, talk about the process, and answer some of the burning questions you may have about IEPs or 504 plans.
All Parent Chat sessions will be conducted in English. Register at the link in our bio!
Parent Chats are designed and intended for parents/family members; we kindly ask that only parent/family members attend.
We posted a picture of an ear mold yesterday for a baby about…………
7 weeks old. 👶🦻
These molds are taken to fit her hearing technology properly. Since she is growing growing growing… she will need between 5 and 10 molds her first year. 😁
Did you know the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing recommends babies are properly diagnosed and enrolled in a program by 3 months?
This baby is right on schedule thanks to early diagnosis and our collaborative services. Dr. Megan (audiologist) and Allison (Auditory Verbal Therapist/ Interventionist) worked together to help ease mom’s concerns and answer all her questions.
When she’s 18 months she can begin All Ears! specialized and inclusive education program. This program works collaboratively with our professionals but also with the school districts to ensure All Ears! kids enter mainstream kindergarten at the same readiness as their friends without hearing loss.
Call or message us for more information.
Great job mom and Dr. Megan❣️
Any guesses on what this is? And if you know, any guesses on the age? 🤔
Congratulations Rosie! We are so proud of you on achieving the highest professional standard in the field❣️
All Ears! families are lucky to have you as their champion and LSLS Cert AVEd (Listening and Spoken Language Specialist Certified Auditory Verbal Educator).
Take a p👀k into a therapy session where MJ is learning to use his new CI (cochlear implant).
Mom says he loves his new ear so much she can’t do anything else in the morning until it’s on or he gets upset. 🦻
The sound is so clear, he is able to mimic sounds he’s never done before.
Great job, MJ, Mom, and Allison❣️

Do they hear what we hear?
Hearing technology is not like putting on a pair of glasses. It provides the amazing access to sound, but the brain still needs to be developed for language, listening and talking.
That’s when it’s time for the professional team and the caregivers to shine by working together to develop the brain❣️
Take a p👀k into an AVT (Auditory Verbal Therapy) session to see how the foundation for language is developed.
As our extraordinary interventionist, Allison says, “ It is always exciting to hear their vocalizations begin to change based on what they are hearing and watch them think about how they can change their voices to match what they are hearing from others- this is the foundation to intelligible speech production.”
Did you know for every end of year, tax deductible gift you make for children with hearing loss in our community until December 31, your name will be entered to receive a fabulous thank you gift.
If your impact gift is between $501-$999, you could win a delicious, fun, STEAK FOR EIGHT dinner at your home. Check it out. https://www.freegrillin.com/

Christmas came a little early. Cochlear Americas newest processor, N8, was approved in November and Dracen's mom didn't waste a second advocating for him.
He is the FIRST person in the greater HOUSTON area to get this fabulous upgrade. He is now able to stream via bluetooth directly to his hearing technology.
He's already got a favorite thing to stream...The Grinch.
Dr. Julie mapped (programmed) his fancy new technology and they took it for a test run in the audiology booth.
Happy Hearing, Dracen, and Great Job, Mom, Cochlear Americas, and Dr. Julie❣❣
