Friday introductions! It's been a while since I've given a personal update here. That’s me with my husband, John, and one of our daughters, Bethany. This summer we took a leap and started our new company, Pin on Point.

In addition to Enneagram coaching, we are adding Pinterest services. We're a creative bunch that wants to help entrepreneurs build their dream business.✨

We decided to specialize in Pinterest marketing for a few reasons: 1️⃣ We saw how it made a HUGE change in Sherri’s coaching business, InitiateLife.com, 2️⃣ Pinterest marketing is smart for businesses and WAY underutilized, and 3️⃣ There’s a ton to learn about the Pinterest platform and keeping up with changes.

Our initial training is completed but as an Enneagram 5, you know I’m taking more classes! 😂

We’re working on our website but while we do, we want to include you in the excitement as we prepare to launch it. In the meantime, we are ready to share with you what we DO know. You can get your Pinterest account ramped up and ready for 2021 business. 💪

Here’s a shortlist of what we do: 📌 Create new accounts and revamp dusty ones 📌 Use smart SEO so your business gets higher rankings 📌 Organize your account so you get noticed 📌 Maintain your account so this marketing machine continues to gain momentum. You get increased traffic, a bigger email list, and more raving fans.

For a full list of services, send me a DM and ask for the Introductory Packet. ✅

One of us is usually doing something Pinterest but when we step away, you can find us on the patio sipping coffee, laughing at something the boys are doing or planning our next family gathering. We love to travel and look forward to doing more of that next year. 🌎

Now, tell us about you! We would love to hear about how you market your business. What are your main STRUGGLES and what have you found to be HELPFUL? Tell us in the comments below. 👇

The Type Nine instinct wants to keep everything harmonious. The problem is, you also crave control! Your decisions will be swayed by these two strong emotional pulls until you figure out how to override them.

Your default way of managing this tension is to sacrifice yourself to maintain peace. And everything is just exhausting.

Take a step closer to your heart to discover who you are. The first step to whole-hearted living is to remember what’s important to you. Another step is to become present in current situations.

Your presence does matter, especially when you bring it into Now. Otherwise, you'll miss opportunities as you forfeit your ability to decide for yourself.

Learning how to integrate all three Enneagram Centers (head, heart, and body) will help you reach a full body yes and make decisions that serve you well.

Enneagram Eights... your tendency is to react quickly and decisively but that has its problems. Your gut-reactions compel you to act before you really think so you miss important information.

Temper your impulses by integrating your 3 Centers of Intelligence - Head, Heart, and Gut. Use your head to get facts before you act. Ask yourself what the rush is about. Are you trying to prove something? Protect something?

Access your heart to remember your goals. How do you feel when someone rushes you into something. Consider how your choices will impact others.

Learning how to integrate all three Enneagram Centers (head, heart, and body) will help you reach a full body yes and make decisions that serve you well.

Since negativity is the last thing you want to bring to your world, you find creative ways to put a positive spin on things. You can surprise yourself with how fast you can be.⁣

But, life comes with disappointment and as much as we enjoy your uplifting nature, sometimes we need you to be more present. And this might be an area where you want to grow as a Seven.⁣

Becoming aware of your tendencies is the first place to start. Begin with focusing your thoughts in your Head Center. Get clear on your priorities align them with your actions.⁣

Touch base with someone you trust. Let them journey with you and help with your blind spots? Pause before you act and think about how your actions impact others.⁣

Enneagram Sixes think about security and plan for the future A LOT. You are some of the bravest people on the planet.⁣⁣

Your mind is a relentless driver that will give you no rest until you figure things out.

Good self-care for you is learning how to calm your mind and interrupt those hamster-wheel thoughts so you can think through plausible options.⁣⁣

It's so easy to get stuck in that awful loop. Notice those times when you make decisions out of fear.⁣

Then, when you do make a decision you feel good about, STAND FIRM. Don't second guess it. Be as gracious with yourself and what you need as you are with others.⁣⁣

Enneagram 5s … Your vice pushes you to know more. Procrastination (fear of not knowing enough) often holds you back even from things you want to do. (Fellow Type 5 here. 🙋‍♀️)

The truth is, you probably do know enough to take the next step. And from that place, new ideas can (and will) show up.

Some things can only be learned by doing. Go out on a limb and try things even if you don’t know how.

Learning also comes through relationships. Healthy relationships can be energizing. Boundaries allow you to connect and manage your need to be alone.

Learning how to integrate all three Enneagram Centers (head, heart, and body) will help you reach a full body yes and make decisions that serve you well.

When was the last time you started before you knew all the things? What was it and how'd it go?

Type Fours have internal emotional pressures that compel them to think and act in certain ways.⁣

They feel things deeply and then think about how they feel. That cycle can feel overwhelming and frustrating for them. It can feel overpowering to others, too.⁣

These feelings of frustration and overwhelm (and how they impact our relationships) can build and drive our decisions and behavior, taking us places we later regret.⁣

If you’re a Four, how do you balance all of that? And what's it like as you try to navigate your needs and the needs of others in an authentic way?⁣

There’s a new blog post up on how our Centers of Intelligence influence our decision making. You’ll also find tips on how the types can feel less compulsion and enjoy more stability. Check it out!

Enneagram Threes are driven to think about other people. As an Achiever, you might feel pressured to perform or impress. And these compulsions can drive you to make poor choices.

Remember to think about yourself, too. The Enneagram work for your type is to find and reconnect with your values. What is really important to you?

Find safe people to talk with. Share what’s exciting, scary, and challenging in your life. Practice being honest with yourself and with others. It’s not easy but it is freeing.

Get real, especially with decisions that affect others. Are your thoughts, feelings, actions, and energy lined up so you can make your best contribution?

Hard choices are necessary but Enneagram Twos will want to forfeit them if they threaten an important relationship. Helping someone to win their approval will lead to poor choices.

Good decisions begin when a person knows their own likes and dislikes. If you're not looking to others to decide for you, how else can you know what needs to be done?

Start a list of things that you enjoy or want to avoid. Look for patterns. Practice saying what you like out loud. Learn to recognize your needs and separate them from what truly needs to be done.

Learning how to integrate all three Enneagram Centers (head, heart, and body) will help you reach a full-body yes and make decisions that serve you well.

Perfection is a rude taskmaster. When it’s in control, it pushes you to overfunction and overthink.

Let your Heart Center soften those hard edges. Develop compassion for others and yourself. Listen to the words you say and those of others. Watch their body cues.

You have a strong moral compass. How can you embody the beliefs you hold in this situation? Set small goals and celebrate your wins.

Oops, I did it again! Have you ever made a knee-jerk decision and regretted it later? Of course you have. We all do. 🙋‍♀️

What if we could come up with a way to make better decisions? That’s what this series is about.

Studies show that 90% of our decisions are emotionally driven. We know emotions like anger, fear, and shame influence Enneagram types and hijack our best-made plans. Impulsive emotions may be just what we need in certain scenarios but if we always follow their lead without thinking, poor choices are inevitable.

The Enneagram does a great job of showing what emotions drive us and how we act when they go too far. Some types lean on logic. Others, more on feelings. We may think we’re in charge but we are not. When our Enneagram type is in control, we aren't.

The Enneagram shows us the pitfalls of each type, It also shows us how to grow. As we discover ways to balance logic and emotion we can move forward with decisions we feel good about.

In the next few days, I’ll make 9 posts. We’ll consider how each Enneagram number can get hung up in the decision-making process. I’ll also offer a tip or two that might help you make better choices regardless of your type.

These are based on a recent blog post. Check it out if you want to know more:

Learning empathy doesn’t come easily. It’s hard work but it’s something we need more of in our world.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The hard truth - and also the exciting truth - is that It starts with us. And the Enneagram is the best tool I know to show the way.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The first step is learning your type. The next step is learning how to apply it. That’s where you see transformation take place in your heart, in your mind, in your family, and in your relationships.⁣⁣⁣

When this year started, it felt like I was on a high trail. The vista was grand and my energy was good. I was gearing up for a local Marriage and Enneagram class (it was awesome!), preparing to speak at some events, and leading several local and online classes. I also had my coaching clients. It was busy and productive. Lots of fun!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And then things shifted. If seemed like each month ushered in a new opportunity to pivot and as an Enneagram 5, it takes me time to find my bearings and connect with my vision again. I’m so glad I know that about myself now.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Honestly, it was frustrating with my need for space and time because I wanted to be a voice of encouragement for you. It’s been difficult to acknowledge my limitations and to pull back in order to care for myself. When I neglected to do that in the past, I paid dearly for it. So did my family and business.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A few weeks back, I mentioned a shift coming but this time it’s a positive one. My big vision from January has been altered a bit. Some of it stays true but other parts, I’m holding loosely.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Today, I’m okay with the vision I have. It seems small. But if I can be faithful with the small things, God will see to the rest. It takes faith and perseverance on my part. But I’m here with my seat in the chair, glad to be back.⁣⁣

Have you read 𝘌𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘮? I’m re-reading it after my daughter mentioned it. The first time was because @hilaryrushford recommended it. Reading this book in light of the Enneagram is especially interesting.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
We are trying to balance all the things these days and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or stretched thin.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
And each Enneagram type will try to lessen their overwhelmed and overworked feelings by overfunctioning in different ways.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
This is when the strengths of our Type can become our downfall. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Read this book. 𝘌𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘮 talks about how our goal shouldn't be focused on getting more done in less time but that we focus on getting the right things done instead. I've found it really helpful.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
If you're on Instagram, check out @essentialism⁣⁣athome. Greg and his wife, Anna, give a peek into how they apply these principles in their family.

Liminal space. It's that in-between time of transition. It feels like limbo - like being stuck in a hallway with closed doors. A familiar door closed but another one hasn’t yet opened. ⁣

Liminal seasons can be hard. Some days are fine but others hold uncertainty and emotional upheaval. We want to be grounded but instead, things feel up in the air. Our vision is clouded and it’s hard to find our way.⁣

In the past six months, one thing after another has cropped up for me. Each time required another adjustment. I’ve been pivoting so much I’m dizzy. Has it been like that for you, too? ⁣

Transitional seasons can be exhausting. And that fatigue feels different from other busy seasons. Our hearts and minds are invested in this change so it’s emotionally draining.⁣

Last week I sensed a shift in me. It was a subtle rearrangement that I’ve experienced before. Like a quiet seed opening, it will take time for it to reveal itself but it is there. And that hopeful anticipation makes waiting in the liminal space easier.⁣

We just spent a few days at the beach and this sunrise was incredible. As I watched the night-colors recede and this fiery orange emerge, it confirmed the changes I sense inside. Quiet, subtle, powerful, and advancing.⁣

How about you? What are you waiting for? ⁣

Maybe you’re longing for a baby. Or for doctors to determine why you feel badly. Perhaps you’re waiting for a heartache to heal.⁣

“𝘚𝘦𝘦, 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨! 𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘶𝘱; 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵? 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥.” Isaiah 43:19⁣

Whatever it is, hang in there. A new season is coming. I don't know when and I don’t know what it will look like, but it is coming.⁣

And if you need some help navigating this season or planning steps ahead, let me know! I love supporting people through change.

About her legacy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg said, "To make life a little better for people less fortunate than you, that's what I think a meaningful life is. One lives not just for oneself but for one's community."⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Considering others, not to the point of becoming a doormat and giving up Self, but becoming more aware of others beyond ourselves, that's where life happens. It's hard and risky. It's exhausting and exhilarating. And at the end of the day, it enables a sense of fulfillment that spills into the next day. We wake up wondering how we can use our gifts and abilities to help someone else.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And if we can teach and model this to our children, they can enjoy the satisfaction of sharing their gifts, too.⁣⁣

My Story

I help parents and small business owners increase their influence and strengthen their connection with others.

Why? Because to really make a positive difference in the lives of others, we must learn to relate in ways that others will listen.

What I Didn’t Know

Unfortunately, I didn’t know how to create authentic connection when I first started. I wanted to be a person of influence both as a parent and an entrepreneur but I didn’t know how. I copied what I saw others doing except that felt awkward and forced. My relationships lacked the depth that I longed for.
