Food for thought!

I’ve come across many people in the last few years experiencing “breakdowns.”

The shame is palpable.

But what if a breakdown was actually your brain trying to help you?

What if a breakdown didn’t mean you were mentally ill, but was a sign of a healthy coping mechanism meant to protect you?

Everything we do has a purpose, including “mental breakdowns.”

I’m here to say that no matter what crazy thoughts or behavior you are experiencing your brain is always working towards survival.

You might be acting out of character, fearing insanity, having an unhealthy lifestyle, or setting your life on fire because something in your life is unbearable and has to change.

Listen to your body and your mind.

Your not broken, your breaking open.

Let's raise a new generation of children who don't believe they need to hustle for their worthiness, knowing they are loved for their unique contributions to the world and their imperfections.

When children know nothing can separate them from their parent’s love, they will grow up self-assured, with the capacity to love others with that same depth.

I'm been privileged to work with an amazing team of people through Houston Responds who care deeply about showing people the love of Jesus and caring for those who struggle with their mental health and we've been working hard to put together helpful resources for those in the church and beyond to equip them to care for those in their community.
