The Woodlands High School Produces 6 National Merit Semifinalists
Semifinalists qualified by ranking among the top 1 percent nationally on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The Woodlands High School National Merit semifinalists this year are:
Will Juneau, Ella Arendes, Morgan McCoy, Rohan Mhetar, Marissa Ruiz, and Tristan Robinson - with The Woodlands HS Principal Ted Landry

During the second week of September, The Woodlands High School seniors were named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship program. Thirteen Highlanders are among the 16,000 semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program, the National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC) announced on Monday.

To qualify, the students – now seniors – took the Preliminary SAT last fall, when they were juniors. They are now eligible to become finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition, which awards more than $30 million in financial aid for college studies.

A semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student's earlier performance on the qualifying test.
To advance to the finals, each semifinalist and his or her high school must submit a detailed scholarship application. They provide information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards.
