When survivors are forced to stay in the home or in proximity to their abuser, it can create circumstances where their safety is compromised, and they may need to alter their safety plan.
When #SocialDistancing during #COVID_19, those in abusive relationships may not be safe at home. If you or a loved one is in this tough situation, you can create a safety plan that will help you remain safe in your home.

So often in life, we think we know what the truth is. And we base our beliefs on what our senses tell us. But the truth is, we can't always trust our senses. Often, we are tempted to reject science because our senses seem to contradict the science. Often, we judge people because our experiences seem to support our judgments. Often, we act in a harmful way toward others because our senses tell us we need to protect ourselves. Often, we promote our opinions as truth because our experiences seem to confirm what we already believe to be true. But what are experiences other than the summation of how we interact with the world through the use of our senses. The truth is, we can't trust our senses. Our senses help us experience the world, but they are subject to failure, misconceptions, mis-perceptions, and influence from our prejudices. We don't experience the world or other people as they are, but rather as we are. And who we are is shaped by how we experience the world. Said differently, we are the sum of our experiences and our experiences show us who we are. It's a self-creating and -perpetuating circle. If you don't like how you experience the world (e.g., you are constantly irritated, annoyed, overwhelmed, stressed out, angry) challenge yourself to re-examine how you perceive the world and remember, just because something seems to be true doesn't make it true.

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something.”
