5/3/2020 - 9am Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church

Join us for 9am Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, as we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Easter. Pray with us!

[05/02/20]   Thank you to our Vigil Mass parishioners! ⛪️

Y’all did a great job with the new procedures. Our hearts ♥️ are full having you back at Mass tonight! ☺️

Reopening Mass at St. Anthony - Phase 1

We look forward to seeing many of you in the coming weeks. Watch this video for an overview of what to expect when you return to Mass!

As of this week Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, has granted us permission to begin the reopening of public Masses! However, there is no obligation to attend Mass in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Our Live Stream will remain available.

Our first public Mass at St. Anthony of Padua will be the 5PM Vigil this Saturday, May 2nd. Our regular Sunday schedule will begin on May 3rd with 7AM, 9AM, 11AM, 1PM, and 6PM. Daily Masses will remain at 9AM Monday-Saturday only.

This is part of Phase 1 of our parish reopening and will have many new protocols that all parishioners must follow to attend Mass. These procedures will be reevaluated weekly. If you would like to attend Mass please read through this message and thank you for your patience and compliance.

CAPACITY & SEAT RESERVATION

-For now, Masses will be limited to 25% capacity across the Archdiocese. For St. Anthony's that equates to 350 in our main sanctuary per Mass. We will have overflow space that can be added for some Masses that will accommodate up to 140 additional persons or 25%.

-Because it is impossible to accommodate all our parishioners for Sunday Masses, parishioners must reserve their seat online before each weekend. Staff can assist those with computer issues via phone during regular office hours Monday - Friday at 832-482-4041 or email [email protected]

-Parishioners will not be able to attend Sunday Mass two weekends in a row during Phase 1 in order to give as many families as possible the opportunity to attend Mass.

-Those who show up without a seat reservation will be placed in a standby line and will be seated only if capacity is not met due to "no-shows."

-Seat reservation will only apply to Sunday Masses and Saturday Vigil. Daily Masses will be first come, first serve until 25% capacity is reached.

-Registrations for each weekend will open the prior Wednesday at 10AM.

-Seat reservations for May 2nd & May 3rd Masses are now open at the link at the bottom of this post.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

-Wash your hands.

-For ages 10 and up, face coverings are required
on our campus and for the duration of Mass.

-The cry rooms and nursery are closed.

-Bring your own hand sanitizer that can be used before receiving Holy Communion.

-Do Not bring items that contain bleach into the sanctuary as this will damage the pews.

ARRIVAL PROCEDURES

-Masks (for ages 10+) should be worn as soon as you exit your vehicle.

-Arrive 20-30 minutes before Mass begins to stand in line.

-Please print or have your confirmation email pulled up on your phone to show staff when entering. This will speed up the process for all.

-The main doors of the church will open 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass.

-Our parish staff will seat your household similar to boarding an airplane.

-The church will be seated to fill the open pews from front to back.

-Every other pew will be closed and marked by red tape on the floor. You may be sharing a pew with another household, but social distance is required between the households (6ft).

-The center sections will be seated first followed by the two transepts.

-There will be no seating in the choir loft, narthex, or cry rooms.

-The holy water fonts remain empty.

-If someone arrives without having a reserved seat, they will be asked to stand in a "standby line." If there is extra seating after the start of Mass they will be granted entrance and reserved seat will be forfeited. Don't be late as your seats will be given away!

MASS PROCEDURES

-Masses will be conducted as you have seen on the Live Stream with reduced volunteer lay ministers. There will be no altar servers, choirs, or lay sacristans.

-Communion will be distributed by clergy only.

-Parish staff will serve as ushers until further notice.

-Please keep your face mask on for the duration of Mass.

-There is to be no physical contact between different households at the the Sign of Peace or hand holding during the Lord's Prayer. You may do this within your own household.

-Baskets will not be passed during the offertory. You will be able to place your weekly gift in a basket as you exit the church, but we strongly encourage online giving through: Pushpay

COMMUNION PROCEDURES

-Cardinal DiNardo has mandated that communion not be offered on the tongue for the time being.

-The precious blood will not be offered to the congregation.

-Use of personal hand sanitizer before communion is strongly encouraged.

-There will be a single communion line in the center of each main aisle. Parish staff will assist in ushering each section.

-Masks should be worn in the communion line. After the priest offers you communion please step to the side, remove your mask, consume the Eucharist, and the re-mask as you head back to your pew.

DEPARTURE PROCEDURES

-After the final blessing, parishioners must remain in their pew.

-Pews will be dismissed in an orderly fashion starting in the rear of the church and then moving forward. This will be similar to how you exit an airplane.

-You must exit your pew when prompted. Private prayer is not available after Sunday Masses to allow the church to be reset for the next Mass.

-All exits of the of the church will be utilized during departure.

-You can drop your weekly offertory as you depart.

-Clergy will not shake hands in the piazza. They will wave as you exit. 👋🏻

-Please do not congregate outside but head directly to your vehicle to allow the next Mass to start on time.

CHURCH CLEANING PROCEDURES

-We will continue to implement cleanliness and sanitization practices, including disinfecting pews between every Mass.

-Disinfecting bathrooms, door handles, and other frequently touched surfaces occur throughout the day.

-Parish staff will be required to wear face masks, wash hands, and will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

You are reminded to follow CDC recommendations regarding your own health. If you fall into an "at risk" category, please stay home and join us by Live Stream.

As you can see, liturgy is our main priority at this time. Confessions remain available Monday-Saturday (10AM-11AM). Private prayer in the church is available Monday - Saturday (10AM-3PM). The food pantry remains operational. All other campus activities remain suspended until further notice.

Any weddings and funerals that are scheduled would adhere to the above protocol.

Additional information will be forthcoming regarding St. Anthony's plan for the celebration of other sacraments of initiation (Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmation).

In Christ,

Fr. Tom Rafferty
Pastor

Dear St. Anthony of Padua Family,

I am very excited to be writing you this afternoon and urge you to read this update in it's entirety. The first phase of our parish reopening will begin this Monday, April 27th.

The sacrament of confession will be available Monday through Saturday at 10am-11am in the main church with the following social distancing protocol in place:

-For the sacrament of confession, we ask you to wear a face mask to protect those around you and our clergy. The confessionals will be arranged so that your confession will be private while maintaining social distance.

-Please stay 6 feet apart when waiting in line (markers will be on the floor).

-Confession will take place in the side transepts of the main church, after your confession please use the center sections of pews for prayer.

-Please do not stay longer than 30 minutes after your confession to allow other parishioners to enter the sanctuary.

-Please wash your hands before coming to the church and after your departure.

-If you are sick or at risk, please stay home.

The main church will also be open for private prayer from 10am until 3pm Monday through Saturday and 2pm-5pm on Sundays but numbers will be limited to 10 parishioners at a time for private prayer. Please keep your prayer time to no more than 30 minutes to allow other parishioners an opportunity. If you arrive and the occupancy limit has been met - a line will form under the breezeway outside the main doors. The side transepts and chapel will continue to be locked. Please wear a face mask if possible.

Masses remain closed to the public for the time being and will be live streamed. We anticipate a Mass update soon - but for now - we are overjoyed to offer confession daily and time before our Lord in the tabernacle. The rest of campus remains closed. Office staff are available via email and phone.
