Not beautiful, but plenty of room to run! 😁
PSA TO PARENTS WITH MULTIPLES - your life will be a MILLION times easier if you put them on a schedule!
Do you know what a circadian rhythm is? Or why it’s important? It’s your body’s natural sleep cycle. Do you know when your baby’s natural temperature cycle and sleep/wake cycle develop? Around 3 months (heard of the 4 month sleep regression? 😏) it is NEVER too early too develop healthy sleep routines, but trying to sleep train your baby prior to 3/4/5 months (whenever THEIR circadian rhythm develops) is going to be a fruitless labor. Are there exceptions to every rule? Did so and so’s baby sleep through the night straight from the hospital? So what. Your baby is not so and so’s baby, they will not develop on the same schedule, and MOST babies do not sleep through the night prior to 4 months (at the earliest). Don’t beat yourself up. Don’t stress about it. Deep breaths.

Moon is full tonight! If your baby wakes up more than normal, water sounds should help! And the calmer you stay, calmer baby stays. But if all else fails USE THE MOON! Take baby for a walk and try again 💕💕
Things to remember when sleep training, parenting, and pretty much all the other times too:
- There is no such thing as perfect.
- Bad habits don’t occur overnight, they’re not broken overnight.
- Trading one bad habit for another perpetuates the problem, create lifestyle changes.
- Babies are simple, parents are complicated.
- Losing your temper, getting frustrated, and feeling your emotions is NORMAL and OKAY.
- Running water is your friend.
- Crying is not lethal.
- Relapse is a part of recovery.
- Consistency is key.
- Give yourself a little grace.
- If all else fails, take a walk.
Need a few more helpful tips for those unsootheable babies;
1. Turn on music. You can be a super mom and play baby Mozart really loud, you can annoy yourself to no end with kids music, or you can simply play whatever music you like best! It’ll help you relax, which in turn helps baby relax.
2. Dance. This goes along with the music thing, but you don’t need music. You can hum, tap, or just dance around the room and baby will calm down if just for a few moments.
3. Vacuum. You’ve got nothing better to do anyways. The loud and constant sound is soothing to many kids. Pro tip: if you start early enough they’ll sleep through the vacuum, or it’ll even lull them to sleep.
4. Swaddle. Not necessarily with a blanket, especially if your baby is older than a few months - but hold that baby close to your chest and use your arms as a swaddle, rock back and forth, and she should calm down.
5. Freeze the paci. Even if she’s not teething yet, the new sensation should be enough to settle her down for a few.
Relax mama, everyone’s struggling, but you’ve got this.

Sweet Pea Sleep Training
Are you stuck at home? Is your baby sleeping on the schedule you’d like them to be? Are they sleeping through the night? How bout some quick tips and tricks to soothe your baby while the world falls apart around you! WE’VE GOT TWO WEEKS BABY, LET’S DO THIS!!
Let me clarify for many of you who don’t know - sleeping through the night does NOT mean they’ll never wake up again. The goal is to teach them that it’s not a big deal when they DO wake up in the night, and to be quiet until they go back to sleep. Don’t expect more than feasibly possible, you’ll just be disappointed.
That being said:
YOU’VE HAD TWO WEEKS THROWN AT YOU TO SLEEP TRAIN YOUR BABY! USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!!
I KNOW everyone is struggling and nobody knows what to expect, and that in and of itself is scary, but panicking doesn’t help ANYBODY. So take a deep breath, and make yourself a goal. Give yourself tasks. Keep busy. Your baby can feel your anxiety.
If your baby is getting cabin fever (or feeling it radiate off of you) a few things to help with the fussiness:
- Go outside. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, fresh air and sunshine are GOOD FOR YOU and they’re good for your baby too! If she won’t stop crying, go for a walk down the driveway. If it’s helping, go ahead and keep going. If you don’t want to venture from your driveway, just pace your driveway, baby doesn’t care. She’ll love every second.
- WATER. Running water helps everything. The kitchen sink, bathroom sink, shower, bath, “Alexa play babbling brook” (guess what I use 😉) just the noise might be enough to settle baby down. If it’s not, try splashing. Start with feet or hands so you don’t have to undress them (but if I’m being honest, unless your baby is 6 months + just take their clothes off now and save yourself the hassle) and if that’s not enough put them all the way into the bath. No soap necessary, this is just to help both of us ground ourselves and calm down.
Keep the belly warm. If you’ve tried both of these things and they haven’t worked, try some skin to skin, not only does skin to skin have its own advantages, the warmth comforts the baby. If you can’t lie down, can you pack her on and baby wear? Again, if she’s still fussy, belly to belly. You can leave your shirt on if you’re more comfortable, take baby’s shirt off, pack her on, but push your shirt up so you have the direct skin to skin. Honestly, this should work for a while. But if you’re trying to do something that involves bending over a lot or really anything that’s obnoxiously difficult while wearing the baby, PUT HER DOWN AND DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO.
I have a mat that I put down on the floor in the kitchen next to me (or wherever I am) and I use these moments I need to do something hands free for tummy time. Most babies don’t like tummy time. It’s the way it is. I can’t listen to or watch the baby crying in frustration over tummy time, but if I get up and start doing things (where she can still see me) she stops crying and starts watching me. This doesn’t last forever, but it happens frequently throughout the day giving my arms and back a shirt rest and her ample tummy time and independence time because I’m also trying to teach her that even if I walk away there’s nothing to be afraid of, I’m always coming back. Just start out making sure she can see you.
If you’re ready to sleep train, go to the tips and tricks page on my website (www.sweetpeasleeptraining.com) and print off the basic sleep training guide. Now, this is not personalized to you and you will not need everything in it, but it is free and it should be enough to get you on the right track, push you the rest of the way, or at least there ought to be an idea or two in there you haven’t tried yet. Use this time to your advantage and try to stay healthy and calm, everything will be ok ❤️

Running around the house like I do, chasing the 4 older kids, but 5 month old baby girl is not having it today. She doesn’t want to be in her bouncy, her jumpy, baby wearing is a no go, what’s there to do?! Best piece of advice ive ever received? JUST ADD WATER! Try a bath, run the faucet, play water sounds on your phone or the Alexa, and you’re golden! Two minutes with her pants pulled up and her feet splashing in the sink and I’ve earned myself another 20 minutes to get the rest of these monsters started on their next task! 🙌🙌
Baby won’t settle down? Pro tip: take a walk outside. It’s ok that it’s 2 am. She just needs 5 minutes. You’ll feel better too 😉
HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYBODY! Otherwise known as the BEST time to break the bad and implement the good sleeping habits! FIVE TIPS TO SOOTH YOUR SLEEPLESS BABY!
1. *Make sure her needs are met* - this sounds so simple and yet all rational thoughts leave your mind after that baby won’t stop crying! Is her diaper clean? Is she fed? Has she been snuggled and spoken to softly? Could she be cold? Hot? If she’s been crying for a while she likely has air trapped in her belly which could be making this moment that much harder. So if all of baby’s needs are met, burp her. If she’s got painful air trapped it doesn’t matter what you do, she’s not gonna stop crying.
2. *CALM DOWN* - your baby has nothing to go off of but instinct; she feels your anxiety and your stress and the way that you feel like a failure. SHUT THOSE THOUGHTS OFF! You are NOT a failure, you are NOT a bad mom, and you most certainly aren’t the only one struggling in this exact way at this exact moment. Take a breath and start over.
*side tip* COLLECT YOURSELF - There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with walking away for a minute to simply slow down your heart rate and take a breather. I’m not suggesting you walk away for an hour, however if baby’s needs are met and she’s safely in her crib WALK AWAY. Go wash your face, breathe, and remind yourself that this too shall pass. She cannot possibly cry forever. Take a minute, and head back in there refreshed.
3. *RUNNING WATER* I have never, not once, ever had this not work even just for a few minutes. You can go draw a bath, draw some dishwater, even play running water sounds on YouTube and see if it’ll calm baby down enough for you to figure out what your next step is. Depending on the age of your baby, seeing you might be enough combined with the water sounds to calm down. If your baby is younger, football hold! (Adjust for personal preference) but I lay baby across my left arm, her face is at my elbow and my arm is under her chest and belly, face the baby towards the running water, and pat her back or her bum. If she’s been crying a while she’s probably got some air trapped in there and this position is more soothing to the tummy, baby can still see things, and you’re working the air out with your patting.
4. *TRADE OFF* if you are lucky enough to have a partner/support system there is NOTHING wrong with asking for help. Sometimes you need that minute away in the kitchen while your SO or your mom or whoever is in the bedroom with the baby. You’re exhausted and your nerves are shot, let someone else have a go and see if that helps. Even if it doesn’t help the baby calm down, it should help you calm down (yes, I know your thoughts are racing and telling you you should be in there taking care of baby, but your heart is slowing down and your breathing is returning to normal). My favorite suggestion (totally not necessary) but have your SO put on your nightgown 🤣 the real tip is that baby can smell you if they’ve got an article of clothing you’ve worn and that’s soothing, but if you can get your SO to put on your nightgown to hold the baby please do it and please send pics 😉
5. *SKIN TO SKIN* - I commonly refer to this as “tummy to tummy”, if you lay down, lay baby on your chest. This is multifunctional because you get to get off of your feet for two seconds, and baby gets the skin to skin and the warmth of your belly and chest are comforting to that little body. If you don’t have the time or baby is simply not having it, strap baby to your chest. Baby wearing is convenient (ish) but if nothing else your arms get a break and that baby gets to snuggle up into your warmth!
Most importantly, don’t forget your worth. You’re everything to that little creature, whether you grew her inside of you or not, you are the constant. When she’s crying, hungry, in pain, whatever, you’re always there and always coming back. She’s sending you to the brink of your sanity, but she’s all yours. During those quiet, sleeping moments, remember all the good things that this baby makes you feel and forget about the nonsense that’s clouding your mind. Just breathe her in, snuggle her, watch her sleep, and remind yourself you are so much stronger than you think.

My name is Logan and I own Sweet Pea Sleep Training and Childcare, LLC. I am a sleep coach and primarily do that, however I also help with potty training, staying in bed, etc. There’s a tips page on my website www.sweetpeasleeptraining.com, and because of some current health issues I’m running a $100 special! So if you’re exhausted and you’re ready to have your evenings back, shoot me an email or give me a call and I’d be happy to help you out.
GAS! Babies get gas, we all know it, we’ve all suffered a gassy baby. If you’ve burped and tried gas drops (or are avoiding gas drops) football hold baby and tap his back, that should get things moving, and then try burping again and bicycle legs and that should do the trick!
MOMMIES!!!!! Take every piece of parental advice with a grain of salt - every child is unique and different things work for different kids. Sometimes intuition is stronger than science.
One of the most common questions I get is how to wean off of the pacifier: cut the tips off. If baby can’t suck on it, she won’t be interested and she’ll throw them away herself!
