In a world that is simultaneously a beautiful wonder and a damaged creation, our time seems stretched and our resources too few. In a bold statement of Faith, we at Covenant continue to turn to God’s Word to sort it all out. At the very minimum, we know that Jesus brought peace, healing, and direction to a broken world. We join in His mission to care for the lost and the hungry. We hope to create

Giving thanks for all those showing up on Wednesday nights to study other religions and build bridges in a world that needs them. Thanks especially to Zahid Ahmed, Rania and Myra who joined us from the Muslim Community… it was great to learn with them!

Tomorrow is a day of prayer and fasting.

We continue to pray and work for peace around the world.
Due to the escalating conflict in Gaza and Israel, a severe humanitarian crisis is rapidly unfolding in the Holy Land. The ELCA has a longstanding relationship with partners in the region, including the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land and Augusta Victoria Hospital. Lutheran Disaster Response has a history of providing support for our partners and will be prepared to answer calls for assistance when the time comes.

"Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live, a place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive. Built of hopes and dreams and visions, rock of faith and vault of grace; here the love of Christ shall end divisions: All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place" (ELW 641).

This Sunday! 😊

"God's work. Our hands." Sunday is turning 10 this year! 🎉 On Sept. 10, congregations of the will join together for our annual day of service. New resources are available to help you plan and promote your day. Find graphics, worship resources, a tool kit and more at ELCA.org/DayofService. 💛

In these days between Ascension and Pentecost, we gather with the disciples in the upper room, waiting for the Spirit to transform the church around the world. In Sunday’s gospel Jesus prays for his followers and for their mission in his name. Amid religious, social, and economic divisions, we seek the unity that Jesus had with his Father. Made one in baptism, we go forth to live our faith in the world, eager for the unity that God intends for the whole human family.

In Sunday’s gospel the risen Christ appears to the disciples and offers them the gift of peace. Even amid doubts and questions, we experience the resurrection in our Sunday gathering around word and meal, and in our everyday lives. Throughout the coming Sundays of Easter the first two readings will be from the Acts of the Apostles and the first letter of Peter. Even as the early Christians proclaimed the resurrection, we rejoice in the new birth and living hope we receive in baptism.

Baptism is sometimes called enlightenment. The gospel for this Sunday is the story of the man born blind healed by Christ. “I was blind, now I see,” declares the man. In baptism God opens our eyes to see the truth of who we are: God’s beloved children. As David was anointed king of Israel, in baptism God anoints our head with oil, and calls us to bear witness to the light of Christ in our daily lives.

Today we commemorate: Patrick, bishop, missionary to Ireland, died 461. A native of Britain, Patrick was kidnapped by pirates at age sixteen and sold into slavery in Ireland. After a few years, he escaped, returned home, and entered the ministry. Returning to Ireland, he successfully served as a bishop and missionary there.
According to legend, Saint Patrick used the three leaf clover to teach others about the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
