Florida A&M University's College of Agriculture and Food Sciences is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for an Assistant Professor for its growing Veterinary Technology Program. This is a nine-month tenure-track position with 70% teaching and 30% extension /research assignments. The selected candidate who is expected to be a go-getter will have principal responsibilities of teaching, program support, clinical duties, and the creation of research / extension program that will break new ground while supporting existing animal research and extension. The position will be principally located at the College's Research and Extension Center in Quincy, Florida where the main facilities of the Veterinary Technology program are located. The location is approximately 35 minutes from the University's main campus in Tallahassee.
Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities in the Veterinary Technology Program will include: Prepares students through instruction to successfully complete the course curriculum and the Veterinary Technician National Exam; This includes teaching hands-on skills with all domestic species; Creates new materials and courses to continuously improve the Veterinary Technology program; Develops and prepares various teaching methodologies appropriate for the specific courses and and be able to teach using both traditional and Online formats; Collaborates with the Animal Science and other programs to develop cutting edge courses; Program Support responsibilities will include: Aids in the recruitment of new students and in expanding internship opportunities for current students; Academic advising in the Veterinary Technology Program; Ensures compliance with veterinary procedures, ethics, policies and relevant statutes; Supervises staff assigned to the Veterinary Technology program; Performs service duties such as participation on college / university committees, and such activities; Clinical Duties will include: Serves as one of the Clinical Veterinarians at the FAMU Research and Extension Center; Conducts clinical procedures including surgery, diagnostics, and treatment involved with the FAMU Research and Extension Center and veterinary technology teaching facility; This also includes demonstration and research animals located at the FAMU Research and Extension Center; Clinical duties are mostly routine animal health related and are largely related to teaching duties; and research and Extension Activities Develop and implement a relevant and impactful research and/or extension program that receives significant extramural funds and serves the FAMU clientele.
Minimum Qualifications
DVM/VMD, DVM/MS, DVM MPH, or DVM/Ph.D.; and teaching experience preferred but not required and a Florida Veterinary License is also preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
DVM with Teaching experience is preferred but not required; and
Florida Veterinary License is also preferred.
Pay Plan
This is a Faculty position.
