I recently received this email from Emily Fletcher:
Are you ready for a staggering statistic?
According to Harvard Medical School, 90% of all doctor’s visits are related to stress.
🎤
90%. Take that number in.
The bright side? We have a cure!
It’s called meditation🧘🏻♀️
Not only does meditation go in and heal your stress (as well as 2-7 generations of stress that you’ve inherited) which accumulates in your nervous system and weakens your immune system, it goes even further than that.
Let me explain how this practice supercharges your immune system:
Research has found that meditation increases something called telomerase activity -- an enzyme that builds and lengthens telomeres.
Quick science lesson: telomeres are the sections at the end of your chromosomes. You know the little piece of plastic at the end of your shoelace that keeps them from falling apart? That is the function of telomeres -- they keep your chromosomes from unraveling.
Telomeres shorten over time and their shorter lengths are linked to chronic illnesses. Longer telomere length is thought to indicate healthier aging AND higher immunity.
So here is the thing…..Want to kick-start your immune system? I got you.
Join me on June 25th at 7 PM at Remedy Day Spa.

I love this.
Spirituality is not one size fits all.
Breathe.

Who else gets caught in comparison?
Meditation is not a competition. There's no “ best meditator” in the room.

I believe this with all of my heart 🙏🏼❤️

“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy...” - Carl Rogers

Do you listen to understand?
Do you listen without interpreting, projecting, judging, or becoming defensive?
Do you listen to understand rather than respond?
Many times we are thinking of our response instead of listening to gain understanding. We judge. We assume. We become angry or annoyed. This is where misunderstandings are birthed.
Try listening to gain understanding, without judgment, without just listening to respond.

“Tonight, on my flight from Indianapolis to Baltimore I sat next to an unaccompanied minor who was traveling to Baltimore to see her Mother. With Southwest Airlines open seating anyone could have sat next to her, in fact many people avoided her and her boundless energy during boarding. But finally, the couple you see in the photo occupied the two seats to her right.
Within minutes the young girl began chatting and the couple likely realized this wouldn’t be a relaxing flight...and they just rolled with it.
As drinks were being served the couple didn’t even get a chance to voice their requests because they were cut off by the young girl stating, ‘I’ll take water with a straw and so will they so we can paint!’.
And they just rolled with it.
Within minutes the young girl had brought out her Hello Kitty paint sheets and the couple spent the next hour following her instructions- as you can see.
As I type this the man next to her is being covered with Marvel stickers. They are on his ears, in his beard, arms, everywhere. And he is just rolling with it.
Moral of the story: There is good in this world. In fact, there is more good than bad in this world if we just open our eyes to it. There isn’t a script or instruction manual for love. You just have to roll with it.”

If you have been judged --Choose to understand.
If you have felt the pain of rejection--choose acceptance.

Friday, April 14th & Saturday, April 15th
April 15th marks the anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni demonstrating the attainment of enlightenment in 589 B.C.E. This is an extremely important day in the Buddhist calendar because our actions are 100,000 times more powerful than on other days. This event is marked by a special purification and fasting retreats in Kadampa Buddhist Centers worldwide based on the practice Drop of Essential Nectar. This practice is done in conjunction with Eleven-faced Avalokiteshvara. It is very powerful for purifying negative karma of body, speech, and mind, and for pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred. It is also a special method for receiving blessings and improving our experience of love, compassion, and bodhichitta

You established trauma bonds with your emotions from the past. Which is why when things are going well, you fear they’ll start going wrong. Because in the past, your self worth was low. So you didn’t see yourself as deserving of all the good. Whereas now you’re beginning to see yourself as the blessing that you are to the world. If the Universe didn’t need you, you wouldn’t be here. And with that, seeing what’s coming into your life as birthrights. You are deserving. You are worthy of consistent good. It’s not a trap. It’s not a trick. It feels so right because you’re finally stepping into alignment with ease and trust. 🙏🏽♥️

I have been having a crappy, emotional, stressful week. On my way to pick up lunch in my comfortable new car, I look over to see this young person asleep at the bus stop. They have garbage bags with belongings in them. The fact they are lying in a fetal position is not lost on me. I prayed for them and I apologized to the universe for my own self cherishing. May they be free from suffering 🙏🏼

A feeling of being overwhelmed is your indicator that you are denying yourself access to all manner of cooperation that could assist you if you were not disallowing them.
As you begin to feel freer regarding the expenditure of time and money, doors will open, people will come to assist you, refreshing and productive ideas will occur to you, and circumstances and events will unfold. As you change the way you feel, you access the Energy that creates worlds. It is there for your ready access at all times.

"The first noble truth of the Buddha is that when we feel suffering, it doesn't mean that something is wrong. What a relief. Finally, somebody told the truth. Suffering is part of life, and we don't have to feel it's happening because we personally made the wrong move."
~ Pema Chödrön, When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times
What a relief.... am I right? Suffering happens. It's not because we did or didn't do, it's a part of life, all life, from the tiniest unseen microorganism to us. DUKKHA happens.
Now... knowing is the easy part. Avoiding unnecessary suffering ( hello, ego, you insatiable b*tch) is the hard part.
