Capturing events, success, and achievement at Leon County Schools.

Operating as usual

How much of your life have you shared with your or ? Every job interview, wedding, or important date...they have stood behind you...cutting...trimming...and listening. They are part psychologist, friend, and advisor. But for these two men, the art of has a deeper meaning. Jason Belcher and Mahir Rutherford are teaching the next generation of barbers at Lively Technical College. Their greatest joy comes from teaching students how to connect in life and become part of our community. Watching their students grow and succeed can be an emotional experience for both men. (Happy tears)

Student Inspires Teacher

We teach our students every day, but sometimes our students teach us. This is a story about a student who taught Trikia White a lesson about perserverance. Mrs. White, LCS 2019-20 Teacher of the Year, teaches 8th grade at Raa Middle School.

AR Goal Song - Rapper Z

Another talented LCS student made me smile today. The interview at the end is too cute. Great job RapperZ and Sealey Elementary School students.

Transition Program

Magic happens every day at ACE Transition Program. Great teachers, staff, and students...feels like a family over there. It gives value and meaning to my job when I create videos for people like this. They are truly passionate about their work and mission. Thank you ACE-Leon Adult Community Education

Braille Weatherman

I love stories like this. Even though 5th grader Aref Shabaneh is blind, he anchors the weather like a pro for Kate Sullivan Elementary news. Everyone is included. (Thank you Sullivan Principal Michael Bryan for sending in the video)

WHO - RU #Thankful 4?

This don't forget to sing about who you are for. Take a minute to listen to the Amos P. Godby High School gospel choir. Each student sings about something they are thankful for. Very touching. 🦃❤️

Nims Middle School

The sound was uproarious, it was deafening. Dr. Benny L. Bolden, Jr. ***announced Principal at R. Frank Nims Middle School. If this energy is any indication of what is to come...wow!! Welcome Dr. Benny Bolden!! (*the crowd in attendance had waited almost 2 hours)

U.S. Army veteran Bobby Drayton has struggled with survivor’s remorse and memories of those who did not get to come back home from war. Mr. Drayton teaches at Griffin Middle School. We're thinking about our tonight and honor them tomorrow on .

Ruediger Roadrunners

Ruediger Elementary School Principal Sally Stephens had a difficult time coming up with ideas for her Principal of the Month video. We thought she did a great job...especially her Roadrunner impression. Also, special thanks to Scott & Wallace LLP for EVERYTHING they do to help our schools and community. We apprecaite ya'll very much.

SAIL Fall Festival

SAIL High School Fall Festical had clear blue skies and sunshine today. Great day for students and teachers to take a break from studies...have some fun...and bond as a school community.

I took a minute to look at this bulletin board in the hallway at James S. Rickards High School. Students leave notes for other students who are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. One note reads..."What does tomorrow need? You."

Has Teaching Changed?

Has teaching changed from 20 years ago? Passionate, patient, and creative. Those are the three words used by former Kate Sullivan Elementary Emily Johnston Goss to describe her most influential . Mrs. Goss attended Lafayette High School in Mayo, Florida (according to her that was..."many moons ago")

Cobb Middle School

Drone footage from Cobb Middle School week.

African Song

I love days like today. It wasn't what I would call work...but more like an honor to be behind my camera and record the emotion from these students at Amos P. Godby High School. Thank you Ms. Hutchins.

Where has 🏖🛳 gone! 🗓15 days from today 📚🏫... ⏰🛌

Office Space

There are so many good people in . It's not about the building you work in... it's the people and students inside who create stories like this every day:

Going to miss these two young ladies so much. Tonight was their last appearance at our board meeting. Ashley Campbell from Leon High School and Abigail Hansen from SAIL High School have both done an incredible job. First class intellect, passion, and heart. Will miss you both.

What is Conscious Discipline?

Conscious Discipline® believes that discipline is not something we do TO children, but something we develop WITHIN them. It is a shift from fear-based discipline to love-based discipline. Hartsfield Elementary School has been working with the program for a while, and Pineview Elementary School recently held a training (below)
