Congratulations to Wendy Laman Crawford, 2024 Cherry Hall Alexander African American History Calendar March Honoree.

As the Artistic Director and Owner of Dance Fusion Studios, Wendy Crawford has led her team to regional and national dance championships nine times in the studio's ten-year history. Crawford passionately unites and celebrates her dancers within the local community, fostering engagement through performances and service. With a focus on belonging and personal growth, she instills high standards, nurturing encouragement, challenge, and daily motivation. She is driven to elevate the standard of dance in Tallahassee by transforming a weekly dance class into a catalyst for capability, confidence, teamwork, and community.

Congratulations to Longineu Parsons, 2024 Cherry Hall Alexander African American History Calendar February Honoree.

Longineu Parsons is a classically trained trumpeter who plays a wide variety of styles including jazz, blues, jazz fusion, and classical. Dr. Parsons earned a Bachelor of Music at Florida A&M University (FAMU), and a Masters in Classical Trumpet, followed by a PhD in Composition at the University of Florida. He currently serves as a professor of music at FAMU. As an active recording and performing artist, Parsons currently tours with The Longineu Parsons Ensemble and The Nat Adderley and Longineu Parsons Quartet.

Congratulations to Lindsey Sarjeant, 2024 Cherry Hall Alexander African American History Calendar President’s Honoree.

Professor Lindsey B. Sarjeant serves as Chairman of the Music Department, professor of music, and chief musical arranger for the incomparable Marching 100, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble at Florida A&M University. Over the years, Professor Sarjeant recruited an excellent music faculty and developed one of this country's leading Music Industry and Jazz Studies Programs.

Congratulations to the Model United Nations (TCC UN) team who joined college and university students from around the world at the 2023 National Model United Nations conference (NMUN DC) in Washington, D.C.

The team of sixteen students participated in seven simulated UN committees during the conference and earned an Honorable Mention award.

Congratulations to the student production team of the 2023 Eyrie, TCC’s student art and literary magazine, for receiving four awards from the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA).

Nicole Nielsen won first place for Best Photography and Sage Moore won second place for Best Photography. Rachel Ostrander’s work was recognized with second place for Best Artwork. The Eyrie also took home a third-place award for Best Creative Nonfiction, honoring S. McCreless’ “The Garden of Life.”

Congratulations to Eugene Lamb, Jr., who will be inducted into the Dillard University Athletics Hall of Fame, which recognizes and honors outstanding achievements of athletes, coaches, and contributors who have made significant contributions to Dillard University Athletics. Inductees are selected based on their skill, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout their careers. Lamb has served on the TCC District Board of Trustees since 2007.

A Gadsden County native, Lamb graduated from Havana Northside High School and was the first player named All-State in basketball from Northside. He continued his basketball career at Dillard where he was named to the All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Team. When he graduated in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education, he returned to Gadsden County and began his professional career as a teacher and coach. After retiring from teaching in 2004 after more than 30 years of service, Lamb continued his impact on the community as a Gadsden County Commissioner for eight years, including two years as chair and as a member of the Midway Council, where he served as both mayor and mayor pro-tem.

Due to the severe weather expected to impact our region, the College will be closed on Tuesday, January 9. The Florida Public Safety Institute will be open for limited operations, but classes will be canceled. All classes and normal operations will resume on Wednesday, January 10.
