FSU Law alum Marlon Hill (’95) visited campus on Friday and had a lunch gathering with students! Hill is of counsel at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman in Miami, and he’s an engaged board member of FSU Law’s Black Alumni Network.


Yesterday, Professor Wayne Logan delivered a lecture to the Spring Education Program of the Florida Conference of District Court of Appeal Judges in Gainesville. His talk explored the interpretation and application of the conformity clause of Article I, Section 12 of the Florida Constitution concerning searches and seizures, and the origins and evolution of the mosaic theory in assessing whether police conduct qualifies as a search.

FSU Law alum Jeff Stoops (’84) talked to students yesterday about the Stoops Family Scholarship and his impressive career at SBA Communications! This summer, the College of Law will award multiple $15,000 Stoops Family Scholarships to outstanding rising 2Ls and 3Ls who are interested in pursuing careers in the field of business law and who are planning to earn the Business Law Certificate. Congratulations to our current J.M. student, Jim McCarthy, President of North Florida Land and Trust, for being named to Florida Trend's 500 Most Influential Business Leaders! The Florida 500 is a unique publication highlighting the 500 most influential executives in different economic sectors throughout the state.

Jim has an impressive professional streak, with his most recent appointment to the Environmental Regulation Commission. His recent position is one of several, as Jim has been appointed numerous times by our current and former governors, Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis, in addition to being appointed to serve in another state.

Jim, the College of Law, and J.M. Community are so proud of your constant achievements, and we cannot wait to see what you continue to do!

Yesterday, FSU Law’s Student Bar Association partnered with the Hispanic Law Students Association, Jewish Law Students Association, and Women’s Law Symposium to host a diversity and inclusion panel on the current state of D&I in the legal profession and where there is still room for improvement. Thanks to panelists Kristen Corpion, Amit Agarwal, Derek Silver (’20), and Yoshi Haynie for speaking with our students!


Please welcome the Editorial Board for the FSU Business Review’s Volume 22! We are eager to see Natalie Alonso and the new E-Board thrive in their new positions. The FSU Business Review has gone though some exciting changes this year, including adding a Symposium Director for the upcoming Volume. Please welcome our first ever Symposium Director, Dean Bayern. The new E-Board looks forward to working with Dean Bayern to facilitate the FSU Business Review’s Volume 22 Symposium.
