Our last week of camp "Girls Heart the Arts" was one for the books! With guidance from Dr. Christy Rodriguez de Conte, the girls created a one-of-a-kind performance that included poetry, paintings, comedy, and song! We'd also like to thank PeaceJam Southeast and LeMoyne Arts for fun & educational programming! We are already excited for next summer.
Everyone has their own definition for what peace means. Today, we share what peace means to our amazing '97 Nobel Peace Prize laureate: Jody Williams.✨

The Peace Festival With Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi hosted by PeaceJam Southeast in the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park today was an inspiring afternoon… thank you to all who planned this event, to all who spoke and served and supported this event, and to all who participated in the rally and walk…
And wow… thank you Farmsook Thai Kitchen for continuing to support Mattie Stepanek’s Peace Foundation (the drink is delicious and beautiful and fun!)
Throwback to PeaceJam Mid-Atlantic and PeaceJam Alumni Student - Alumni Mixer that took place this past weekend!
It was an intimate event that consisted of Almuni from PeaceJam Southeast, along with Vice President Rody Thompson and PeaceJam American University students.
There were powerful discussions, providing important advice about mentorship, career advice and school and academics advice to the students.
They hope to continue having gatherings, showing support and to uplift one another.
Looking forward to spending time together this spring when they welcome Nobel Laureate, Kailash Satyarthi to the Mid Atlantic region for their first PeaceJam Mid Atlantic conference.

Half-way through the work week, and already counting the blessings of purpose as the wedges in as many connections with as many folks in as many moments as possible -- for making a difference (and pausing to play) and celebrating life!
On Monday, we connected with our PeaceJam Southeast to begin planning our upcoming April during which their Executive Director, Kate Cumbo, will serve as our guest toastmaster. We also connected with Jimmy Carter National Historical Park (and friends) Jill Stuckey and Andrea Walker. Mattie's Foundation shared the gift of an Ed Heck piece, and wow, we were gifted with the incredible treasure of several Mattie and Jimmy books -- SIGNED by Mattie and Jimmy.
On Tuesday, we zoomed into an Americus Rotary Club meeting and then a powerful session with the Welcoming Communities Movement -- for which Laura & I (on behalf of Mattie's Foundation) have the honor of serving as "healing and restoration coaches" for a number of amazing folks and groups that are funded by the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities.
And today, I connected with City of Rockville, MD Mayor Bridget Newton to chat about all the exciting and nifty plans we have for our activities and events (contests and virtual toasts, gratitude gatherings and celebrations, and more -- info coming soon!), and connected with Lisa Friedlander and team for a zoom rehearsal session as we get ready for next week's 19th annual Heartsongs Fund event -- this year a "virtual happy hour" gathering to support Children’s National Hospital where Mattie lived and loved for so many (many many) months (and years), and I enjoyed a monthly chat with Sandra Newcomb, Paula Beckman, and Lynn Brown -- dear friends and colleagues whom I first met 30+ years ago during the days of "Project Assist!"
Also today -- I celebrated my Irish roots with Laura and Barry. Thank you to Americus - Sumter County Tourism for the ever-so-nifty green fortune cookies, and to Pat's Place for continuing your decades long tradition of ensuring that delicious corned beef and cabbage is available to the community (along with some Guinness Draught). We capped off these busy days and this holy/holiday with prayers of gratitude and peace, and with an IAFF MDA Softball Championship inspired "Jeni'ssy Hennessy" toast to friends -- near and far, past and present, and loved and appreciated.
