Last but certainly never least on our get to know you is the Marvelous Ms. Amy! 🤩 Ms. Amy has been the artistic director of BACT for 23 years now and is an extraordinary teacher, mentor, and creator ❤️

What do you love most about teaching dance? 👯‍♀️
- That's a tough one! There are countless things that I love about what I do. If I had to choose one it would be knowing that I am able to give to my students the gift of ballet, art and music🩰🎼 🎁 all which can impact their lives for the better. Whether a student is dancing for personal enjoyment or with the idea they may wish to pursue ballet academically or as a career has no bearing as everyone's lives are more deeply enriched if they study dance and art.

Who was your hero while you were growing up? 🦸🏼‍♀️
- Now an easy one! Hands down, my grandmother, Mimi. She and I were very close 👩‍👧and very much alike. I really don't think there wasn't anything that she couldn't do. A fun fact about her was she ran my family's construction business. I'd say she was probably one of the original Boss Babes! Maybe I came by it honestly? 🤣

What has been your favorite ballet to produce?🩰🎫
- I have loved each ballet I've produced for a variety of reasons but I must say my favorite of all time was my steam punk version of Alice-in-Wonderland. 🫖🎩🐇❣️Taking a well known story and completely changing the appearance and style of the characters was not only challenging but creatively it was so much fun. I found a steampunk composer out of Denmark and he agreed to do the musical score for the ballet. 🎹Our lighting designer even surprised me by making a steampunk chandelier which I didn't even know would be included until opening night. That ballet was a surprise after a surprise!

If your pet could talk, what would his catch phrase be?😺
- I'm pretty sure it would be something along the lines of "Excuse me....I can see the bottom of my bowl"🥣

Stupendous Saturday!!! Today we’re meeting Ms. Terrific Tori 💫 Ms. Tori started dancing when she was three and loves sharing her knowledge with our students. Her favorite styles are ballet and contemporary ballet

What has been your favorite performance? 🎫
- Ooh that’s a tough one. There have been many pieces and characters I have portrayed that stand out. My favorite character role is probably Alice from BACT’s “Alice in Wonderland.” 🫖 She was spunky and and the choreography was fun! Another performance I loved was Melissa Rector’s “Awaken” at Jacob’s Pillow. Growing up if I was told I would perform at a national historic landmark that has made significant contributions to the dance world, I would not have believed it. 🪨

What about dance makes you feel great? 😃
- The feeling you get when you have worked so hard to perfectly execute a step or choreography and finally nailing it is incredible 💃 I have always tried to push myself to be the best I could and dance give me endless room for improvement 🩰

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
- I love getting active so in the morning I enjoy doing a hard work out 🏋️‍♀️or going for a hike🥾I also have fun baking so I might try a new recipe or pick an oldie but a goodie to make in the afternoon. I’m a sucker for homemade chocolate chip cookies 🍪 And course I must end the day with a movie and cat cuddles 😻🐈

If you could be any animal, what would you be?
- Hmmm definitely something in the cat family haha🐈‍⬛ I think it would be cool to be a snow leopard! They have crazy jumping ability and live in the mountains 🏔 I wouldn’t mind being a cat in my own home either. Let’s face it my cats are ridiculously spoiled😂

Time to meet Ms. Lovely Lindsey 💕 Ms. Lindsey is one of our ballet instructors and we couldn’t be happier to have her😁

Why did you start dancing?
-My parents put me in dance classes at the age of three so I could be active after school. From an early age I knew that I was going to love dance forever. I was a very shy kid, and dance has allowed me to overcome timidity and be apart of a community bigger than myself. I continue to dance today because of the love I have for the exploration of intricate movement. I love setting goals for myself in the studio and seeing them met and come to life on stage.

What is your favorite ballet🩰😍
-My favorite ballet to watch and perform is La Bayadère because I love embodying powerful and majestic, yet sultry characters. I have only had the opportunity to perform the Gamzatti variation and the Act I pas de deux from La Bayadère, so I hope to one day be a part of the whole production.

Who is someone in the dance world you admire? ⭐️
-I admire Meryane Martin Murphy, who is the Artistic Director of the studio I trained with in Andalusia, AL. She has been passionate about dance her entire life and continues to dedicate her time and efforts to see her students succeed in the dance world. I owe my training, passion, and every opportunity I’ve had thus far in my career to Mrs. Murphy.

What is your go to “dance like no on is watching” song? 🎼
-Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Richie. Of course!! 💃👯‍♀️

What is your dream vacation destination? 🧳🏖
-I love being outside, hiking, and seeing new things. It is on my bucket list to hit every National Park in North America!! After that I’d love to see the tulip fields in Ireland, or find some chocolate in Switzerland!! ;)⛰🍫🌷

Round 4! Today we are meeting Ms. KT who will be teaching contemporary this year😄 She started teaching because she loves helping people and is so passionate about dance 💃 We are thrilled to have her!

When did you start dancing?
-I started dancing at 2 years old and have been dancing ever since. My mom enrolled me at a young age. I fell in love and when I was older I always chose dance!! 👯‍♀️

What do you love about dance? ❤️
-I love that you can truly express yourself without using any words. I feel that I can truly leave myself on the dance floor as if it’s my comfort place. Plus, dance friends always wind up being your friends for life!!

What other hobbies do you have??
-I love photography and videography!! 🎥📸

If you could have any exotic or mythical creature what would it be?🦖🧚🧜‍♀️🐒
I’d say I want a pet dolphin in my pool! After swimming with dolphins the other weekend, I realized they are the CUTUEST! 🐬🐬🐬

Meet Carter! ✨Today’s get to know you is one of our instructors. Carter performed as a guest artist with us in Snow White🫅🍎 and couldn’t wait to come back! Carter started dancing because it is a way to express himself non-verbally (not to mention it’s WAY more fun than doing cardio at the gym 😂🏃)

What is your favorite memory involving dance?
-My favorite memory is when I chosen as a featured dancer in Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. The choreographer wanted dancing horses🐎 for “It’s Possible” and I got to do it after training for only a year. I still remember the choreography!

What has been your favorite performance? 🎫
-My favorite performance is my first formal concert. I was in a ballet piece, two modern pieces, and a jazz piece 👯‍♂️

Who is a choreographer you admire? 🤩
-Keith McCoy! He was the choreographer for the production of Cinderella I was in. I admired how he communicated with the performers and I love how he choreographed for the bodies of the dancers instead of just throwing out difficult steps. He is very smart about his approach to directing and choreographing.

If you could live in any fictional world, where would you choose?🌏
-WHY IS THIS ONE SO HARD!!! It’s a toss up between the Wizarding World and Star Wars! What if those worlds were combined?! 😱

What is your favorite thing about teaching dance? 👯‍♀️
- I love seeing young girls falling in love with ballet just like I did!❤️🩰

What is your earliest memory involving dance?🤔
- First ballet recital at 3 years old with Mrs. Amy🌸

What is your favorite kind of music to dance to?🎼🎹
- I love broadway jazz!🎭🎷🎺

If you could choose to have any superpower, what would you pick?🦸🏼‍♀️
- Definitely invisibility!!

Classes start back up next week and we’re ringing in the new year with a get to know our team ⭐️ First up we have our marvelous Costume Designer, Linda Bulecza 👗🪡🧵

When and why did you start costuming?

I started costuming in 2011 for our first production of Christmas in Narnia. We needed white bodices and I thought I could make them using the instructions from Tutu.com. Up until then, we largely rented costumes from other nearby companies, but we quickly realized that I could make them much more beautiful, more original, and much less cheaper. So I became the company costume designer and have volunteered in that capacity ever since.🦸🏼‍♀️

What is your favorite costume you have made? 🥇

It's very difficult pick just one favorite costume. Every ballet has at least one or two that I really loved. So I will start with my favorite ballet: Steampunk Alice in Wonderland❣️🐇. I love everything about that ballet. Of course I love the Alice costume. And I love both the Caterpillar 🐛and the Queen of Hearts 👸 But it is the whole look of the show and how it came together that makes it my favorite.

What is your favorite color 🎨

No question my favorite color is purple 💜💜💜

What do you do for fun? 🤹‍♀️

When I'm not sewing I'm playing with my miniatures. My friends and I make mini houses 🏠 and furnish them with mini furniture and assessories. So much fun! My current project in progress is an antique store set in a barn
