Watching video evidence before providing a use of force statement

"This article will discuss common objections to officers viewing videos in use of force cases. As detailed below, many of these “anti-viewing” arguments fail to account for the practical and legal realities of force investigations. That said, there are legitimate risks to viewing video evidence, including the risk of corrupting an officer’s memory. This article suggests ways for investigators to mitigate these risks and still benefit from the memory-enhancing effects of video viewing."

Parole and Probation doing excellent work and going above and beyond to ensure successful outcomes for their clients. Job well done!

Hats off to the agents in Parole and Probation’s Aberdeen Field Office. They’ve helped nine offenders enroll in a free GED class. Working with community partners, the agents helped save the offenders money, while at the same time reaching a critical milestone that will hopefully aid them in finding jobs and, hopefully, a more stable life.

“I explain the importance of the GED,” says Agent Senior Bridget Van Ess. “I hope they stay with it, even if they’re not required to do it.” Excellent work by Parole and Probation people who care.
