Welcome Back, Skimmers!
Please welcome Megan Fisher to SIES! Megan will be teaching 4th grade math and science this year. This is her fifth year teaching. She graduated from College of Charleston in 2019 and previously taught 2nd & 3rd grades. She has had a fun-filled summer filled with surfing, yoga, walks with her dog and reading on the beach, but is ready to get back to the classroom! We are so excited she’s joining the SIES family!
Welcome Chloe Bobeng to SIES! Chloe is from Anderson, SC & just graduated from Clemson. She just got married and in new to the Charleston area! We are so excited the Chloe is joining the SIES 2nd grade team!!
Welcome Jeff Handel to SIES! Mr. Handel came to Charleston 20 years ago after playing percussion in US & Japanese tours with the Broadway show, “Blast!”, where he met his wife, Cameron. After moving, he was part of the musical group, “Dallas Brass”, for 5 years, performing concerts and clinics for students and audiences across the country. The tours ended when he was offered the open position of Percussion and Jazz Director at Wando High School, where he was an associate band from 2011-2023. He is excited to teach music at SIES, and especially excite at his daughters, Harper & Maryjane will be joining him as students!
Sheriff King welcomed some new kindergarteners this morning at one of our summer Kindergarten Roundups. Yee-Haw!
Welcome Seppie McAdams to the SIES 1st grade team! Seppie grew up on Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant. She taught at Meeting Street Academy at Brentwood and Stone Academy of Communication Arts in Greenville. She most recently was managing Halfmoon Outfitters and working on the corporate level buying team. We are so excited to have her back in the classroom and joining SIES!
Help me welcome Barbara Allen to SIES! Barbara will be one of our Science Lab teachers. She is coming out of retirement and back into the classroom. She taught at MPA and Trident Academy before joining us. We are so excited she’s joining our team!

SIES is excited to welcome Kimberly McCants to the 3rd grade team this year! Kimberly is from Atlanta and got her undergraduate at Oglethorpe University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Literacy at The Citadel. She has lived in Mt. Pleasant for the past 20 years where her and her husband have raised their 4 children. We are so excited that Kimberly will be joining our SIES team this year!!
Help us welcome Katie Gallman to SIES! Katie will be joining our Intervention Team this year. She has a Masters in Education and over 15 years of elementary education teaching experience. Most recently she taught 3rd grade. We are so excited she is joining the SIES team!

Some of our SIES Singers performed the Batman Theme Song with the North Charleston Pops Orchestra last night! They did a wonderful job!
