“Agriculture is so ingrained in me that I wouldn’t know of any other way to teach,” said Brunnemer. “Every year I strive to include more Ag in the Classroom lessons and resources and am hoping I am not only educating the children in my classroom, but also their families.”
Brunnemer is to be honored at the annual Oklahoma Ag Day celebration, set to be held on Thursday, March 24 at the State Capitol.

If anyone knows of a college student (2-year, 4-year, etc.) interested in horticulture, we are currently accepting applications for the 2022 REEU (Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates) internship at OSU. It is for 10 weeks (May 23-July 29). Participants work with a mentor in their field of choice (this year: soil health, invasive species monitoring, pecan production physiology, food quality and extraction science, food safety, field vegetable production, soilless production, greenhouse floriculture, environmental biophysics, outreach and youth education, or digital extension and education). Housing is provided, as are some meals. Students get stipends for participating. At the end of the summer, their research results are presented, and the top three students get a trip to the regional American Society for Horticulture Science meeting (this year it was in New Orleans) to present. Students do not have to be horticulture or even ag majors, and do not have to live in Oklahoma to apply. The application is at https://agriculture.okstate.edu/departments-programs/hla/horticulture-research-and-extension-experience-for-undergraduates.html
The link at the top is to an Oklahoma Gardening episode on the program, with student interviews. Application deadline is March 8.
