Night Without a Bed is a national social media challenge and fundraising effort hosted by Family Promise, a leading nonprofit supporting families experiencing homelessness. Kiddie Academy of South Reno held their second annual silent art auction this year to support the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides invaluable assistance to families with children battling cancer.

Talented young artists at the Academy created art pieces that were featured at the auction. Over the past two years, Academy staff and families collectively raised $2,200. Not only did the event raise money for a worthy cause, but it also helped build a sense of community among our families.

“Reno is a small community, but it is a tight knit one. The families, teachers, and staff are all committed to helping others, and they are always looking for ways to give back to the community,” shared Franchisee Andrew Sizemore. “Our silent auction was just one example of their generosity and compassion.”

ARRGGHHH MATEY! Let's rewind a bit and talk about our field trip to Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake in Annapolis this past week. What a fun day, which started with face painting and pirate costumes, then our amazing hosts at Pirate Adventures took these scalawags out to sea to search for treasure and take down the dreaded pirate out to steal our loot! This was our last field trip of summer and boy was it a blast.

“When we concentrate on building skills to benefit children for life, especially at a young age, we aren’t solely focused on teaching domains of education that increase subject knowledge, but instead on building a developmental base that will form the foundation for future education,” said Ocie Watson-Thompson, Ed.D, at Towson University and Kiddie Academy curriculum advisory board member.

Today Mr Jake read a lively version of the story 'Paletero Man' to the whole school; it's an incredible tale of determination, kindness, community, and POPSICLES! We then got to enjoy popsicles from Tasty Toucan as a school community. A great Friday had by all, we hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

What are some ways that you instill confidence in your child?

Today we had a field trip to the Chesapeake Children's Museum. The museum is filled with theme based rooms for the children to explore and learn. We enjoyed outdoor story time and crafts, like making didgeridoos and Australian tile mosaics. The children had an amazing time in the beautiful weather exploring the grounds. Huge shout out to all the chaperones and helpers making this a super fun trip!

This year, Kiddie Academy of Arlington Heights and Kiddie Academy of Mount Prospect partnered up for an impactful volunteer event with Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization that provides food and resources to children in need around the world. Together, Academy staff and enrolled families helped back over 27,000 meals!

“It’s an amazing experience,” shared Franchisee Preeti Gulati. “The nonprofit is so well-organized, and the staff and students are always so excited to volunteer. It’s a great way to teach our children the importance of giving back and bring Character Essentials® lessons to life.”💙

In May and June, more than 70 Kiddie Academy locations across the country participated in Play Day for a Cause! This event supports charitable organizations like our existing nonprofit partner, Family Promise, throughout our communities. 💙⚽️

Together, we raised over $2,000!

“Play Day for a Cause is an important way we put our values into action,” said Maria Dontas, Kiddie Academy Director of Corporate Social Responsibility. “By coupling a fun day of play with a charitable element, we’re able to engage children and families while supporting Family Promise and other worthy causes in our communities.”
