Last Friday, Al Fatih Academy invited our middle school students to watch a living history performance. The show took us back to the 1800s during the time of Elizabeth Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. Students learned about what life was like and the struggles behind the Women’s Suffrage Movement.

Last Friday we had our honor roll ceremony which recognizes students who have attained academic success this past quarter, and inspires all our students to strive harder and perform their best in all subjects.

Students who made the A and AB honor roll received medals, certificate and a gift card to the school store.

In keeping with last quarter's theme of Kindness, teachers were asked to nominate students who went out of their way to help others, encourage their friends, or chose to be kinder to themselves to be a better person. Each student that was nominated received a badge and a gift certificate to the school store.
Alhumdulilah, It’s only November and we’ve already received our first college acceptance!!! Our Senior has been accepted to Penn State University and we are so delighted for her.

SAT scores help colleges compare students from different high schools. Scores show your strengths and readiness for college work. But we also know that scores are just one part of a college application, along with grades, course rigor and recommendations.

For this reason, Hidayah Academy teachers are working diligently with seniors in all the areas needed to not only get into college but thrive in it.
Extra-curricular activities are in full swing now. All of these clubs were initiated, marketed and executed by our amazing students, MashaAllah.

Last Jummah, our school board member, Br. Kebba did a khutbah on cancel culture.

What does Islam say about cancel culture? Islam says if the person is spreading evil then he should be brought down or stopped but has to be done in the right way by the right people (righteous authority) with the right intention. Most of the time it’s done out of envy or to make themselves look good or like heroes.

Todays cancel culture encourages backbiting and negative culture. It is a tool to stop the spread of good. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was also a victim of cancel culture.

There is a popular story from the seerah when the Prophet (SAW) walked with an old lady helping her carry her heavy stuff. The lady did not know who He was but talked badly of a man named Muhammad. By the end of the walk she discovered who the Prophet (SAW) was and immediately converted.

So what do we do when popular culture says a person is bad but Islam says they’re good? We follow the rules of the creator and not the creation.

A Hidayah Academy junior was given a summer project to create a plan for students to practice good character and manners.

Our junior designed a program called "Tarbiryah-Character Building", where students will learn about a new topic each month and build upon it. Ms. Asmaa held a talk on this month’s theme, Kindness. She emphasized the importance of being kind to others and gave ideas on how to practice kindness with those around us.

Teachers and staff will take note of which students are practicing kindness and then at the end of the month, students will be recognized for their efforts.

At Hidayah Academy, in addition to academic excellence, we also aspire to raise students with high moral values and encourage them to practice those values like the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did.
