Rex Lewis-Clack "Tormented by Genius" AKA "Ingenious Minds" - e2 Full/HD

Today, one of my students was telling me about a show he saw on the Science Channel called "Ingenious Minds." This particular episode featured a story about Rex Lewis-Clack, a fifteen-year-old who possesses the incredible ability to hear any piece of music once and play it perfectly from memory on the piano, yet he is blind and severely autistic. My student and I had a great discussion about this boy's incredible talent for music, but also discussed some of the every-day challenges that he faces. Although it's 21 minutes, this video is really worth's fascinating!!

Meet Natalie, the November 2012 Student of the Month! Natalie is turning 10 years old in just a few weeks–November 20! She is in 4th Grade and her favorite subject in school is Reading. She has been taking lessons from Miss Leah since this summer. She is very excited about all the Christmas music she is learning, especially so that she can play it for anyone who visits her house during the holiday season. Her favorite Christmas song to play is “Jingle Bells.” When Natalie is not practicing piano or working on homework, you will probably find her reading or playing outside.

Miss Leah says:
“It has been so much fun to teach Natalie these past few months. She is a very motivated student who practices often, and her practice definitely pays off. She is moving very quickly through the level 1 books and will be getting new books very soon. I am very impressed with Natalie’s behavior during each lesson. She sits so quietly and pays very close attention, which makes my job a lot easier! :) I am excited to see her perform in her first recital in December; I know she will do a fantastic job! Happy early Birthday, Natalie, and keep up the great work!”
