Thank you Christopher for this amazing painting of the Eiffel Tower! We will be sharing if we can, but planning to soak in the learning and experience. Keep creating and chasing light!
Happy New Year! Thank you to everyone who has already registered for the classes in February. We love having your kids in the studio and can’t wait for all the fun in 2023. All the workshops aren’t yet posted, but note that there is a 3-6 y.o. workshop on February 4th. More information coming soon!
Please email [email protected] to register.
This was another special commission, the last of 2022. My client fell in love with “Finding Beauty in the Rain” during the fundraiser for Ukraine. Fast forward a few months and she asked if she could have her own version created. A reminder of the strength Christ provides through the dark valleys of life. Besides the text and the cross, I added warmer tones to match her warm personality. Kyle made another gorgeous frame and I can’t wait to deliver it tomorrow before I head to France!
This is just a snapshot of the wonderful things that have happened in the studio this year. I am so thankful for all the awesome people I have met. If you or your child have taken classes, camp, or a workshop, thank you. I love creating with everyone! Thank you to all the talented artists who continue to be a part of the gallery, and especially those who have shared their talent through workshops and camps. The biggest highlight was seeing the community come together through art to raise over $12,000 for the orphans of Ukraine. Of course, thank you to my collectors for allowing me to continue to do what I love. I am so excited for all the new creativity coming in 2023. Wishing you much love and blessings in the new year!
I love creating special and personal pieces for people. This fun piece was a unique challenge, one I needed to get right in the design stage in order to keep the integrity of the beautiful door. I am so happy my clients love it! This is his grandfather’s farm in Italy. They were farmers and this door is from a farm in Kentucky. He fondly recalls his grandmother frequently calling “scampa casa che piove” (come inside it’s raining).
Before I was blessed with this beautiful space to paint, I was chasing the light to paint in my own house. It was during quarantine and everyone was home, so I didn’t want to continue using the kitchen. I ended up ditching my easel for the bathtub- all because of the muted natural light.
Happy Sunmontuwednesday, that wonderful time after Christmas when no one knows what day it is. I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday. Last week the studio was buzzing with Christmas cheer! In one class, kids painted winter landscapes, while in the others they created a special Christmas hanging for their mom. The adults in private classes refined their drawing skills. Today and tomorrow are the last classes of the year! There’s a couple spots available today at 4:30 for the 11-14 y.o. Also, there’s times open tomorrow if you want to bring in a group. Registration is open for the next round of classes which start February 1.
Join us in the studio! Time slots available- great for a group of kids or family to enjoy a time of creativity. Email [email protected] to register.
Wishing you a Christmas full of many blessings, bursting with love and joy! Thank you for being part of Chasing Light.
Students- get your sketchbooks out during break and draw your family. Drawing figures from life is the best way to improve your skills. And clothing on is perfect- but this cartoon from a fellow art teacher made me chuckle.
Happy Thursday! Today’s classes are full, but if the storm isn’t so bad tomorrow, there are slots available in the afternoon. Also there are times T-Th next week.
We are still having a big sale on paintings and T-shirts. The shirts are really soft and the kids love wearing them!
Happy Wednesday! Are you feeling the frenzy of the holidays? Slow down, breathe, and shop local! We have beautiful jewelry, ornaments, pottery, paintings, and prints. Or…gift certificates for classes makes an excellent stocking stuffer. Speaking of classes, there’s a couple of spots available in the 11-14 year old class today at 4:30. Email me and I will save a spot.
It is definitely feeling like Christmas in the studio. Lots of wonderful bubbling creative energy. This week some kids will be finishing their paintings while others may be starting something new. This month is a little more free flowing, so it’s not too late to jump in on the fun!
There’s open spots this week and next. Sign up for one or both. We will be doing a different holiday project each week. I also have some slots available if you want to schedule some family time in the studio. Email [email protected] to register.
Twas the week before Christmas and through the gallery,
There are paintings, earrings, and shiny pottery.
The artwork is created with so much care,
In hopes that your walls would soon not be bare!

Give the gift of art, it will surely delight!
Happy Wednesday! We have classes in the studio and beautiful artisan gifts in the gallery. Stop in and I can help you find a special gift. Also a reminder that pottery is ready for pick up. See you soon!

I love this time of year in the studio- so much festive fun! We kicked off the week glazing the ceramics from Sally’s workshop. They turned out SO beautifully and are ready for pick up.
We had winter-themed mixed media painting in the December classes. This month, the classes are stand-alone, and running through the end of the month, so it’s not too late to get your child in the studio for some creative fun! Shoot us an email to register.
We had both regular private classes and open studio, which we will continue to have through the end of the month. We finished the week celebrating a special birthday, as well as a watercolor workshop by Ayn for mommy and me. I love seeing the joy of family and friends creating together!
We have some awesome new classes coming in 2023, as well as creative collaborations that I know you will be as excited about as I am!
Yes we have e-cards available for artwork or classes! This is an especially popular idea for grandparents out of state. At the top of our website https://www.chasinglightartstudio.com/ you will see “gift card.” You can even enter a custom amount. Locals, if you prefer, we have them available at the studio. We are starting registration for February classes now, so if you would like to get on the list, simply email [email protected].
Happy Saturday! There are only 2 Saturdays before Christmas Eve! Do you have everyone on your list covered? If not, let us help you. We have so many beautiful artisan made gifts, from mugs, to jewelry, to paintings. We still have a huge sale on paintings- 15-25% off.
I know the people at Amazon don’t do a happy dance when you buy from them. When you shop local, you support local families and keep our community strong! Thank you!
Also, if you took the ceramics workshop, they are ready for pickup!

Hours today are a little different as I am fulfilling my civic duty. The gallery will be open later while we host a private party in the studio this evening.
If you have a special police officer in your life, these prints are available and would make a unique gift. Reach out if you would like to commission an original.
There’s still a couple of spots available in tomorrow’s watercolor workshop. It’s a creative “mommy/daddy and me” time. I heard that Santa will be at the gazebo by Magnolias starting at noon! We have ornament painting in the afternoon- tomorrow will be a great day to make some holiday family memories!
Need to finish up final projects or have a creative outlet during finals? Or if family is in town over the holidays, you can book your own private class or open studio! Just email us and we will make it happen!
Happy Wednesday! We have classes in the studio this afternoon: the sunshine of creativity on a cloudy day. It is difficult to get a good photo of these sweet works by because of the reflective nature of the resin. These photos are on woodblock, which means they can be hung on a wall or set on a shelf. These sheep make me think of the manger scene.
So much big fun in the studio last week. We kicked off the week with another round of Sally Runge’s fabulous ceramics workshop. We also had private lessons and the last of the November group classes.
It’s not too late to join the December classes. These will be stand-alone classes, so if your child joins all 4 or can only join 1 or 2, you just register for those dates. I’m looking forward to some holiday fun in classes this month! Email [email protected] to register.
Check out Mike’s latest installation!
You asked and we listened! A creative workshop by another awesome educator. The littles will have fun learning watercolor techniques to make their own unique snow globe. This is PERFECT for a mommy or daddy and me, or a grandma and me. $15 per child. Space is limited, so please email [email protected] to register.
Need a gift for a Christmas party, or an addition to your own tree? We’ve got you covered, with beautiful handmade ornaments!
So incredibly proud of this young lady! She is a wonderful intern, with so much talent, dedication, and is such a light! There is no doubt she will make a difference in the lives of her future students. I know several awesome Springboro art teachers who graduated from Miami- it’s a fabulous program. Congratulations Keira!
I can hardly believe that in 1 month I will be heading off to my residency in France! Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive. We had so much fun this week in the classes, I am truly going to miss my students in January!
I am buckling down and finishing some special pieces…but not today. We will be closed today because of…jury duty. Please stop in tomorrow, I will be glad to help you with your Christmas list!
Happy first day of the last month of the year! Whoa…
We have another busy day in the studio today and the gallery is open with beautiful gifts. There is a big discount all this month on many of the paintings, plus there are handmade ornaments, mugs, and jewelry. Gift certificates for classes make wonderful stocking stuffers- those are available on our website as well. This is a wonderful and convenient gifting option for grandparents who are out of state.

Happy last day of November- can you believe it?! We have classes hopping in the studio today and lots of beautiful gifts available in the gallery. See you soon!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! With the holiday last week, we took a break from the regular schedule and offered a series of ceramics and glass workshops, with Sally and Debbie. Kids had the opportunity to create a pot on the wheel, which was a really cool experience for them. They also created their own ceramic ornaments. I can’t wait to see them after they are fired in the kiln! Debbie from Haute Fusion glass studio helped them create fused glass ornaments, which are also fired in a kiln.
Reminder that tomorrow and Thursday are the last of the November classes. There is still room in the December mini sessions, and you can get in on Saturday’s class as well. Email [email protected] to register.
I love this! Sally is truly an inspiring instructor!
Happy Monday! It’s a holiday surprise- we are usually closed on Mondays- but will be open through the holidays. Today we have another round of awesome ceramics workshops with Sally Runge. Her pottery is beautiful, useful, and affordable! Come in to shop and check out the creative fun happening in the studio.
We also have the same sale as we had last weekend- 20-30% off all paintings. I hope to find something special for your home and would like to make room for the new work that’s coming after my residency in France.
Someone asked me if we can ship, and the answer is yes! So if you have been in, or just seen something here or online, shoot me a message for details. We truly appreciate your support of this local business!
Shop local this Christmas! We have unique handcrafted gifts from 25 local artists. Specials on paintings and T-shirts. Open today until 2.

A Little About Me...
I’ve been an artist my whole life, but didn’t really understand what that meant until after my kids were born. You see, even though I went to college for fine arts, then worked in graphic design for years, it wasn’t until I stopped creating (because I was busy with young children) that I realized I was denying part of who I am. So I happily started creating again, with photography, drawing and painting. I truly believe we are all designed to create in some way. Art is a healthy outlet that is so good for the soul!
I’ve been an educator for almost 20 years, first with natural childbirth classes, homeschooling, then in recent years, at the Dayton Art Institute, Middletown Arts Center, and private lessons. I love people of all ages and I aim to meet my students where they’re at in their artistic journey. My goal is for learning to be a fun discovery!
The arts bring communities together in such a beautiful way and I am honored to be part of the Springboro Arts Council as well as ARTfest on Main. I am looking forward to meeting you and creating with you soon!
