"When we reach the station that will be it!" we cry. "When I'm 18 that will be it! When I buy a new 450 SL Mercedes Benz that will be it! When I put the last kid through college that will be it! When I have paid off the mortgage that will be it! When I win a promotion that will be it! When I reach the age of retirement, that will be it! I shall live happily ever after!" Unfortunately, once we get it, then it disappears. The station somehow hides itself at the end of an endless track. Sooner or later, however, we must realize there is no station in this life, no one earthly place to arrive at once and for all. The station is an illusion—it constantly outdistances us. Yesterday's a memory, tomorrow's a dream. Yesterday belongs to history, tomorrow belongs to God. Yesterday's a fading sunset, tomorrow's faint sunrise. Only today is there light enough to love and live. The true joy of life is the trip.
"Relish the moment" is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24: "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. " It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad. Rather, it is regret over yesterday or fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves that rob us of today. So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, kiss more babies, watch more sunsets, count more stars, laugh more and cry less. Life must be lived as we go along.
The station (i.e. the end of life and true final destination) will come soon enough.

“Times of transition are strenuous, but I love them. They are an opportunity to purge, rethink priorities, and be intentional about new habits. We can make our new normal any way we want.”
― Kristin Armstrong
Your gifts are innumerable; your depth is incalculable; your presence is unforgettable.
Your touch is healing; your style is appealing; your power is mind reeling.
And you are loved and adored on a moment-to-moment basis, more than you can now comprehend.
Yet still, every day you surprise me.
Just like we planned,
