On Monday, October 24th, the PTO will be helping CWHS kick-off Red Ribbon Week during all lunches. This week is designed to encourage students to celebrate a drug-free lifestyle, and the kick-off to it is, by far, my favorite event of the school year during which we throw prizes like little footballs, basketballs, and bracelets to the students from the stage and hold contests such as hoola-hooping and musical chairs. This event is a coordinated effort for which we will need volunteers to setup at 9:00AM until lunches are over at 1:00PM. If you find yourself interested and available to help, please let me know when you have a moment.

The PSAT will be given to all Sophomores and Juniors on Wednesday October 12.

CWHS is now taking applications for the 2012-2013 school year.

The application period is from October 1st - 31st.
No applications will be taken after the date/time stamp of midnight October 31st.

To apply, students must be enrolled in the 9th or 10th grade and attending Dekaney HS, Spring HS, or Westfield HS.

Generation TX Week is being observed at Spring ISD campuses this week to help students as young as kindergarten start planning to attend college. Students of all ages are invited to attend College Night 2011 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Westfield High School. Representatives from over 100 colleges and universities in Texas and many out-of-state universities will be present to answer questions and provide information about their institutions. Workshops on college admissions and financial aid will be offered, and college assessment information will also be available. This event is open to students of all ages because it is never too soon to start planning for college. More information is located online at www.springisd.org

Last day to pay for PTO World’s Finest Chocolate. PTO representatives will be in the food court from 10:30AM to 1:15PM to accept payments. Prizes and goodie-bags will be passed out on Friday, September 30th during lunches.

There will be an information meeting to learn about the application and admission process at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 29 at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School. The application period is open only during the month of October so please take this opportunity to get answers to your questions regarding the Wunsche application and admission process.

CWHS PTO will begin its annual World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser. Again, all proceeds help students and teachers at CWHS. PRIZES INCLUDE A 32” PHILIPS FLAT SCREEN TV, A 32GB iPOD TOUCH, AND A NIKON COOLPIX CAMERA.
