Hi Promiseland Families💜💜,

It's been so amazing to be back with all of our wonderful kids! As a mom and a staff member, I have loved every minute of these last few months! But we NEED HELP! Over the summer, a lot of our regular volunteers take much needed vacations and we want to honor the sacrifices that they make all year in order to be here for our kids and encourage them to take some time off.

However, during those summer vacation months, we still want to be able to serve all of our kids! That's where YOU come in! If every parent was able to attend one service on Sunday and then serve another, we could be sure to be able to welcome each and every kid every week!

Whether you're available for one service every week, or one service a month, every little bit helps!

Lead a small group, greet and check-in kids at the door, help with security, assist the staff by coaching the room; wherever your gifts call you, we have spots open!

You can choose whether you'd like to serve in your kids' room or in a different room, in the same age group as your own kids or venture to olders or youngers for a different experience...it's completely up to you!

We also have positions in the main lobby welcoming new families and helping them find their way to their rooms or assisting volunteers to check-in before their serve.

Click on the link below to get started or email me directly at [email protected]! I can't wait to hear from you and welcoming you into our exciting summer in Promiseland!

Hello Promiseland family! It’s been so wonderful to be back together again these past few months! I’m so excited for what God has in store for us this summer! But, we need your help…

As we prepare to expand our ministries and re-open more programs, we need volunteers! No serve is too small! Whether you have one Sunday a month to donate your time or you’re available every weekend; WE NEED YOU!

Serving opportunities are available across all age groups in multiple different capacities so contact me anytime for more info and to get started! I look forward to hearing from you!

Does anyone know the name of the song from the preschool service the last two weeks? Thr hands up in the air joy is everywhere song. My 2 yr old has been singing it nonstop since Sunday and keeps asking to listen the whole song.
Will there be summer camp this year for the kids in the new spaces and grounds? My son had a great time 2 years ago there.
Looking forward to serving PL on Saturday!
The past four months have been a rough going for all of us at Willow but there has been one reason that our family has kept coming back. It is the volunteers at Promiseland.

Nobody desires difficult times, but I believe that they provide us with the opportunity to test the depths of our character and resolve. During this confusing and painful time, the Promiseland staff have shown great steadfastness and an unrelenting commitment to building into our kids the teachings of Jesus. For this we wanted to send you all a very deep-felt thank you.

My hope is that this time has brought your staff closer together in purpose and has blessed each of you with the sense of closeness to God that often seems to only accompany us in our toughest times.

Below is a picture of our son Michael who is currently in the 3's room. He called my wife over the other day and told her that this was "Jesus died on the cross." He had made this Lego creation completely unprompted and we had not talked about Jesus or anything like that that day. This is just one of the almost daily examples we see where Promiseland has positively impacted the lives of our children and is why, even given all the issues we as a congregation need to address and work through, our family will continue to show up to Willow as long as you all do.

Thank you for all that you have done for our family.

Sincerely,
Kevin and Megan Hebert
My son and his friends really enjoyed the Springhill camps last year. What are the weeks for 2018?
Another Sunday at the Promiseland Desk
Love serving with my dad..❤

Sarah Hall is a fantastic volunteer who dedicates so much time and energy into really bonding with the girls she leads. She has formed great friendships and mentorships as she has served on our teams. We are grateful for you, Sarah!

Here's what Sarah had to say:

"I started volunteering about two years ago and have been absolutely in love with it since day one. Starting out, I thought that I could just help mentor the girls through their faith and give them another safe person to talk about God and generally life with. But since being at Promiseland I've helped my small group learn their multiplication tables, attended their musicals, and most importantly, hopefully helped show them God's love. Seeing my kids and hearing their stories and how they chose to love others lights up my week. And seeing the way that they've not only grown together as individuals but also as a group has made all the early mornings worth it."

Thank you Sarah for pouring into your girls!

Aftershock Promo

We are so excited to announce that AFTERSHOCK IS OPEN this weekend to all staff and volunteers' kids! If you work or serve on Sunday, your kids are invited to join us in Aftershock during the 11:15 service! Not sure how it works? I can help with that!

You just register your kid(s) to attend Aftershock by emailing Jess at [email protected].

When you show up on Sunday morning for the 9AM service, your kid(s) check in at the Aftershock kiosk instead of the Promiseland kiosks. Then, they just head off to 9AM Promiseland. We will take care of everything else!! Our amazing volunteers will pick your kid(s) up from Promiseland after service and head on down to the Aftershock space. They will receive lunch and have a ton of fun!!

Once you are finished serving, working, or attending the 11:15AM service, you just pick them up in Aftershock.

Be sure to register quick! Space is limited! Register by 8PM Thursday night to ensure a spot!

Not a volunteer yet, but interested in how this program can give you the freedom to try it out? That's great! Connect with the ministry where you would like to serve or visit willowcreek.org and click “Serve” to get started!

We are so excited to serve alongside you and to have a BLAST with your kids in Aftershock!!

Wanda Ivette Ramos has been serving with Promiseland for 17 years! She currently greets her fellow volunteers and the check-in desk and supports the team in the lobby. We are grateful for her years of service and dedication to the mission!

Here's what Wanda had to say:

"I have been serving in Promiseland since about 2004. Started off with staying with my niece in the 2 year old room so my sister could go to service. My niece is off to college and I am still here. Love to see the excitement on the kids faces coming to Promiseland where they feel safe and learn about God. Promiseland reminds me of Luke 18:16, where Jesus says, "Let the children come to me."

Thank you Wanda!

This week we want to send a huge Thank You to Nancy Spizzirri! Nancy has served with Promiseland for 19 years and has a beautiful heart for kids! Nancy has not only guided our children but has trained and mentored new volunteers and poured into our middle school and high school volunteers as well.

Nancy, you are an absolute joy to be around and we are grateful that we’ve had the pleasure of knowing you all these years!

This is what Nancy shared about volunteering:

“I started volunteering in Promiseland as a summer serve in 2002. Did two different age groups and as you can guess I ended up serving the two’s. Fred called me after my serve and was asking me various questions. He made me feel welcomed. Started the next week serving. That’s how I began.

I have served at the 9 o’clock time for most of these years, just switched to 11:15 two years ago. It was time for a change. I love serving as two’s are like sponges absorbing everything you say.

My belief is that one doesn’t read the lesson but speaks from the heart and look at the children.

In January 2009 I had to have emergency open heart surgery, so was out of commission for several months. Before my release from the hospital, I told the doctors that I was going to go to church to see my little ones. Took some convincing to let me do so. I was going no matter what. Seeing them was better therapy for me than what was prescribed.

I just love helping the now two’s-three’s.”

Thank you SO much Nancy for your years of dedication!

Andrew Shogren is one of our amazing high school volunteers who spends his Sundays pouring into our kids! The kids love him and we do too! We are so grateful for Andrew's dedication and spirit for mentoring fellow students! You are a true leader Andrew; thank you for all you do each weekend!

Here's what Andrew had to say about why he serves:

"I volunteer because I used to go to Promiseland and I know that small group leaders can have a big impact on kids. I got started by emailing a promiseland worker saying that I wanted to start serving in promiseland. One thing that I love about Promiseland is just being able to interact with the kids and help teach them God's word."

Ron Spizzirri is an amazing volunteer all over Willow who has been dedicating his time recently to infants and toddlers in our Orange room. We are so grateful for his sacrifice and the time and care he gives to our youngest kiddos. Ron shared a little bit about how and why he volunteers...

"I don’t volunteer to pay back or pay forward though those are both good reasons to do so. I volunteer because of the way it makes me feel. I really do get more than I give. I am accomplishment driven and If I can put a smile on someone’s face or help them in some way, I feel that I’ve somehow accomplished something good.

Since starting to come to Willow Creek in 2001, I’ve had the privilege to:

-Serve as an auditorium host, area coordinator, and main floor coordinator in Guest Experience

- Make information for Guest Experience volunteers available online

- Train Guest Experience Area Coordinators

-Assist WCCC Information Technology in solving issues

-Instruct a class in Biblical Literacy

-Serve on the Teaching Review Team for midweek

-Participate in Feed My Starving Children and Prison Packs events

-Serve Christmas dinner to the homeless

-Visit with maximum security inmates at the Pontiac Correctional Facility

- Load the cars of Care Center shoppers

-Serve infants and their families in Promiseland

I don’t want this ride to end… I love it!

Grace Kang is an amazing coach and small group leader for our elementary kids. She goes above and beyond every weekend! We are so grateful for Grace’s dedication to our kids! Here’s what Grace shared about her journey to Promiseland…

“We started to attend Willow creek community church in 2000. I was always seeking a way to serve God while I was attending services. I was wondering where I could start to serve. When my son was in Kindergarten, one day, I got a call from Promiseland, my son's small group leader, and she asked me if I could sub that Sunday for my son's small group. I was just thrilled. I was looking for the way all these years and God showed me the way. I answered "Yes" right away, and I told the lady that I would like to serve every Sunday. She lead me to person and place to get started, and I have been serving every Sunday since 2005.

It has been blessing to me to meet so many friendly people and serve together. It is beautiful to see that staff and volunteers work together. It is a pleasure to watch how our Promiseland kids grow spiritually in God. It is a joy to see the kids, who I had, to become small group leaders, or to serve other ways in Promiseland.

Willow creek community church seems so big, but there are so many small communities to get involved. Promiseland is one of them. I have been growing my faith and spiritual journey with my fellow volunteers and Promiseland kids. When I am sick or having a hard time, they pray together for me and send me encouraging words and prayers. I have a regular job during the week, but I can't wait for Sundays to go to Promiseland to meet, talk and laugh with my volunteer friends, staff, and Promiseland kids.

I love Promiseland and hopefully, I can serve as long as God allows me.”
