Operating as usual
In 2019, Mr. Aldo Guerreschi of Turin, Italy gifted the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans with a rare original photographic negative glass plate of the Shroud taken in 1931 by photographer Giuseppe Enrie.
We were actually able to make photographic prints from this 1930s process and produce unique holy cards to share on Good Friday.
Join us between the hours of 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Good Friday, April 15, in the Parish Hall, to see this rare photographic plate and other inspirational items on display... and receive one of these unique holy cards as we contemplate the time our Lord suffered on the Cross.
There will be a special presentation on the Shroud at 1:00 p.m.

Friday of the Fifth Week of Lent
On this final Friday before the Triduum, we hear Jesus' heartbreaking question - what has he done to deserve such hatred?
Memorial of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, Priest
Today we commemorate St. John Baptist de La Salle, the founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He reminds us that God often works in strange and mysterious ways, quite apart from our own plans.

We are all lost sheep at one point or another. Thankfully, we have a Savior who seeks us out. And when the Good Shepherd finds us, we cannot help but smile like this lamb!
Congratulations to the children on their first Sacrament of Reconciliation this morning. Afterwards, they celebrated Jesus' goodness with their families and friends in the Cathedral's prayer garden.

Fifth Sunday of Lent - 8:00 AM Mass - Fr. Mangum
In today's Gospel, we learn a powerful spiritual truth. If, in our sin, we call on the name of Jesus, the accuser will flee, and we will be free to ask the Lord's forgiveness.
Faith Formation is in full swing today at the Cathedral. The Holy Spirit filled the hearts of all who attended the First Holy Communion Retreat, Baptism Seminar and Altar Server training.
Fifth Sunday of Lent - Sat. 4PM Vigil Mass - Fr. Mangum
In tomorrow's first reading, God tells us that he is doing something new. He is bringing salvation to his people in a way they will not expect. It is a beautiful image of the Crucifixion - that "lowest of low" moments that is, in reality, our salvation.
The Holy Father encourages all of us to pray for our health care workers this month!

Thursday of the Fourth Week of Lent
Cathedral of St. John Berchmans updated their business hours.
Here are some great thoughts from Dr. Jared Staudt: https://thosecatholicmen.com/articles/how-to-enter-into-holy-week/
Tonight, the Cathedral parish gathered for a movie, food and fellowship to watch “Sabina, Tortured for Christ, The Nazi Years.” Little did we know the Holy Spirit had a different plan. Instead, the movie sent was, “Tortured for Christ.” The storyline revolves around Sabina’s husband, Richard Wurmbrand, who suffered incredible torture at the hands of the Russia Communist party who occupied Romania after World War II. He spent 14 years in a Communist prison, and his faith in Christ could not be broken. Day after day, his faith was under fire, but his love for Christ and the power of prayer provided him strength and hope. There is a scene in the movie where a Russian guard opens the prison door to Richards’ cell. The guard begins to chastise Richard, “You are praying again! Praying to your God! Who are you praying for?” Richard replies, “for you.” The Russian guard was visibly shaken. This was one of many powerful moments in the film. Richard Wurmbrand hated Communism, but he loved the Russian people, even the ones who tortured him. A true testament and witness of Jesus Christ.
