Did you know our summer camp partner Sci-Port Discovery Center has a fun, half-day summer camp for your little kids? The Itty Bitty Scientists Camp is designed for your 3-5-year-old kids and runs each week until August. The camps sell out each week, so make sure to register in advance. When your elementary kids come to one of our morning camps, their younger siblings can come at the same time! Find out more at

Our second week of sold out LEGO camps with Sci-Port Discovery Center has started! This week’s theme is Jurassic 🦕 Dinosaurs. Lots of big, moving, technical LEGO Dino models to come. If your kids are builders or love hands on STEM activities, take a look at upcoming camps!
We love Sundays. It's a day for family and friends and the opportunity to take a deep breath before the work week returns. Rhino Coffee in the beautiful Lofts at 624 Texas Street is a perfect place to let all the tension of the prior week just flow out. We're pretty sure scientific studies have proven that anxiety and stress cannot survive at a table topped with fresh coffee and a pastry (and maybe an old-timey newspaper). 😁 Rhino is open today until 5 pm. Breakfast is always a great option at Rhino, but BRUNCH is on the menu today at both The Re*****on Suite Hotel & Spa, 220 Travis, 9-noon, and Fatty Arbuckles under the Texas St. Bridge, noon-4. Also at noon in the Red River District is the official kick-off to a week of ⭐️ JUNETEENTH ⭐️celebrations! Craig Events & Artipsy Presents: Freedom Brunch N Paint Official Juneteenth Kickoff runs from noon- 3 pm. Since you will be in the 'art' mood after the brunch, it will be the perfect time to walk to Big Sun Studios, 619 Edwards St., to see the great exhibit up now featuring the photography of Veronica 'Ron' Brown & the awesome abstract works of artist Ben Ware. Free admission. Sci-Port Discovery Center on the riverfront is the place to be if the kiddos love GAMES. GamePort features all kinds of interactive and educational (and fun) opportunities, (9-5). The Shreveport Aquarium just up the Clyde Fant Parkway is steadily adding to their collection of fascinating sea creatures. If you haven't been there in a while, it's time to go back! (10-5). Blow a piece of art for yourself or a loved one today at Sanctuary Glass Studio, 421 Lake St., (1-5) or High Gravity Glassworks, 1200 Marshall St. (noon- 5). MAVERICK is on the big screen at Robinson Film Center, and they have also welcomed the horror thriller, WATCHER. You can feel both the need for speed and for fear in one place! Minicine?, 846 Texas Ave., does it yet again with Adam Goodwin, Sebastian Figuero and Ivy Woods Numero Tres, 7:30-9:30, $5 donation. Minicine's events are ALWAYS the ones you will talk about the next day!! Shreveport Water Works Museum/ Shreveport Railroad Museum are both OPEN 💧🚂today,(12-4) Free Admission. It's going to be a great day! We hope you have a wonderful, happy, safe day and we'll see you downtown!
Our Summer RISE Pathways students had some special visitors this week!
Sci-Port Discovery Center came out and showed Fairview Alpha students how to become plant and wildlife biologists. Guides from Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site also stopped by Provencal to show students pelts, flints, toys, and other items from the 1700s.

Kids love hands-on learning and so do we – that’s why we proudly supported the launch of an interactive wall mural in Shreveport's Sci-Port Discovery Center’s Creative Energy Space. Through vibrant illustrations on this one-of-kind mural, visitors will learn how our natural gas operations and processes power their daily lives. The creative space will allow the center to continue to bring innovative programs and exhibits to the public through STEM classes, after-school activities, birthday parties and more.
One of the parts of my job that I love the most is talking to our city’s young people. This week I got to speak to dozens of Caddo Parish Public Schools best and brightest about the importance of higher education, Shreveport’s growing workforce, and growth in our great city. It was part of a STEAM event hosted by Marvkevea's Learning Center , and Sci-Port Discovery Center. I can’t wait to see what this generation will contribute to our city!
