From the Eric Carle Team: It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on Sunday, May 23rd at the age of 91.

When asked why he thinks The Very Hungry Caterpillar has remained popular for so long, Carle said, “I think it is a book of hope. Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent.”

Thank you, Eric Carle for sharing your great talent with so many generations of young readers.

Attention Caddo families, all district schools and sites will be closed Monday Feb. 22. We will shift to virtual instruction on Tuesday for the remainder of the week.

Based on current conditions in our city and parish, basic necessities such as running water, meals and heat on most of our campuses have been compromised. Thank you for your understanding as we pivot yet again for an unprecedented event.

Dear Caddo Families, all Caddo schools and sites will be closed on Monday, January 11, 2021, as winter weather moves into our area beginning today and continuing through Monday morning. This winter weather is anticipated to bring between 1 and 3 inches of snow in Caddo Parish. Please do not get out on roadways unless absolutely necessary as falling temperatures will cause roads and bridges to become hazardous. For our students participating in midterm exams, the exam schedule will be modified to be administered Tuesday-Friday with transportation provided. Virtual instruction will NOT be provided on Monday. We ask our staff and students to instead take time to safely enjoy the snowfall and prepare for the district to reopen on Tuesday.
