Operating as usual

[04/15/18]   Please join us this week for Fr. Ron Hoye who will be with us for our 3 day Easter Mission. Fr. Hoye will be talking with us about how we can live the Easter celebration!

Fr. Hoye will be speaking on the following dates:
Sunday, April 15th at 6:30pm.
Monday, April 16th at 6:00pm.
Tuesday, April 17th at 6:00pm.

[04/12/18]   Traditional Latin Mass, sung by the Schola of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, begins in 30 minutes! Please join us!

[04/11/18]   Please join us for our next Traditional Latin Mass with Fr. Benidict from Norcia, Italy. The mass will take place Thursday, April 12th at 6:00pm in the Cathedral.

We're excited to announce that the schola from the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches, LA will be singing the mass! Aaron Wilson, our Director of Music, and Kaitlynn Eaton, Assistant Director, will be providing the voluntary music on the organ. Please join us for what is sure to be a beautiful liturgy!

[03/13/18]   You won't want to miss our upcoming concert for Lenten Music.

This Thursday, directly following the 12:05pm mass in the Cathedral, our concert will feature Karyn Rimmer and Sarah Dunham. Karyn & Sarah are local soprano who sing for Broadmoor United Methodist as well as Prisma Vocal Ensemble.

Their program will feature works by Fauré, Craig Courtney, and Bach.

A reminder that there is NO lunch following the concert this week.

[03/06/18]   Don't miss our Lenten concert this week! Our concert will feature a Loyola College Prep senior, Max Hyde, on violin!

Max is an extremely accomplished violinist for his age and you won't want to miss what is sure to be a stunning concert.

Join us after 12:05pm in the Cathedral and don't forget to come hungry - there's lunch in the parish hall following.

[03/01/18]   Don’t forget to join us at about 12:30pm in the Cathedral to hear Mr. Aaron D. Wilson in recital. We’re looking forward to a lovely program of prayerful, meditative music!

Join us for lunch in the parish hall after!

[02/20/18]   Don't miss our Lenten Music series, starting this Thursday following 12:05pm mass in the Cathedral!

Our first performer will be Kaitlynn Eaton, Assistant Director of Music at the Cathedral. Kaitlynn grew up in Davenport, Iowa, after settling in Iowa when her father retired from the US Army. Kaitlynn’s love for the organ stems from family trips abroad to the great European cathedrals as well as her upbringing in the Episcopal Church. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Church Music from Wartburg College under Dr. Karen Black and her Masters Degree in Church Music from the University of Oklahoma under Dr. Damin Spritzer and Dr. Adam Pajan. Kaitlynn has 2 cats, 3 dogs, and a doting husband.

Kaitlynn's program will include the works of: Brahms, Daniel-Lesur, Walcha, and Manz.

Join us this Thursday after mass. There will be a light lunch after the music.

[02/13/18]   Don't forget, amidst the celebration of St. Valentine's Day, that it is also Ash Wednesday!

Ash Wednesday services are:
8:15am with the SJB Psalm Choir
9:30am with the Loyola College Prep Choir
12:05pm with cantor
5:30pm with the Cathedral Choir

We hope to see you at one of these masses. Remember, Ash Wednesday is one of 2 required fasting days, so don't forget to celebrate St. Valentine's Day on the 15th! (Pro Tip: candy is 50% off the day after!)

[02/06/18]   Thank you so very much to Dr. Cory Wikan and the Centenary College Camerata for a stunning, tender, deeply musical performance last night. All of the audience members raved about Camerata's musicality, their skill, the challenges of the music that the singers overcame, and how fantastically they sing together.

Thank you all for attending this incredible concert. This was, perhaps, one of our best attended events. We almost ran out of programs, which is the greatest problem to have!

Please be on the lookout for information about our closing Music at the Cathedral concert featuring world renowned organist, Bruce Neswick. Mr. Neswick will be performing a free recital here at the Cathedral on April 6th at 7pm. We hope all of you who came to the concert last night will join us again for another incredible evening of music.

The 2018-2019 series is currently in progress and underway and we are hoping to have Camerata return and sing for you all again!

[01/17/18]   As we mentioned the other day, there are many exciting things happening on the horizon at the Cathedral!

We are extremely excited to announce that Mr. Aaron Wilson will be returning to the Cathedral as Director of Sacred Music! Mr. Wilson's first day will be February 16th. He is absolutely delighted to be returning to the Cathedral and we are over the moon to have him!

Kaitlynn will be returning to her position as Assistant Director of Music. She is thrilled to have the chance to be working with Mr. Wilson!

Thank you all for your support and prayers as we have navigated this period of transition in the life of our parish. We know that you will help welcome Mr. Wilson with open arms and hearts and we cannot wait to see what great things God has in store for the future of the music program at SJB!
