Looking for Tammy, a graduate of Magnet. Can't remember her name and can't find her in the yearbook. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in High School. Afraid that is all my small mind can remember. She possibly graduated in 89, or 90.

Good Sunday morning! I have a few questions I hope someone can help me with: What are the future plans of this Alumni group? Who all are organizing the CMHS Alumni Association? How can we give back in a meaningful way to the school (its teachers and students especially) that we all remember so fondly all these years later? A safe (as safe as possible) gathering for next month (December 2020) is being planned with details TBD in the next week. Your thoughts and comments are encouraged here.

Magnet Alumni! I am the current yearbook sponsor at Magnet, and I have several extra copies of books from past years. If you didn’t get a book or lost yours, here’s your opportunity to reconnect with some memories, help me clear some shelf space, and support the Yearbook program! I have books from 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 94, 95, 96 and 99 that I’ll let go for just $5! If you want one, just drop me an email at [email protected]. Thanks, Mustangs!
I know this group has been inactive for a pretty long time, but I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get a high-resolution version of the Magnet logo. My friend's daughter is graduating this year and they've asked me to make her graduation invitations for her.

Click here to support Emilie's Cure by Trey Gibson

A local Magnet Alumni family, Trey and Candace Gibson, are seeking financial help to attempt to get treatment for their nine year old daughter Emilie. Trey is the LSUS debate coach, and Candace is an English teacher. On September 9th of this year Emilie was diagnosed with a DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), which is a deadly cancerous brain tumor. Approximately 50% of kids do not make it a year past diagnosis and 90% don't make 2 years. They are currently looking for a cure, which involves enrolling Emilie in a Phase I trial in London.

A gofundme account has been set up to raise the $100,000 necessary for this treatment plan. The link is:

Emily also has a page dedicated to her journey called "Friends of Emilie Gibson" Hi! Emilie is our incredible, amazing 9 year old daughter. On September 9th of this year we were hit with news that no parent should ever hear. She was diagnosed with the worst possible disease...a DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) which is a deadly brain tumor and the prognosis is about as...

Help Magnet Students Learn and Compete With the Same 3D Printing Technology Used by NASA

That last project hit its goal faster than we expected...ready for one more?

What’s Magnet up to now:
Have you heard about those amazing 3D printers on the news that everyone from NASA to Apple to MIT to the geeky kid down the street are using? (If you haven’t, a 3D printer is like a regular printer, except that it can print almost any real world part that you tell it to: rocket parts, phone cases, scientific widgets, art projects, etc.)

Here’s why that matters:
Students from your very own Caddo Magnet High School want to work with the same 3D printer technology to learn and build projects in the fields of Hardware Design, Robotics, Rocketry, General Science, and Real World Challenges; in most of these fields they will be competing locally, regionally, and nationally against other schools and students.

It’s actually going to happen:
Members of the newly formed Engineering Club don’t need a lot of money to get started. They can get started today with a smaller version of what NASA and other organizations are using, but only if they are able to reach their goal of $3600.

Here’s how you can help:
Make a donation of any size today towards their goal of $3600 -- $36 would help tremendously.
Pass this along to someone else who might want to donate.
Tell all of your friends how awesome your high school is. (Go ahead, you can brag a little bit about Magnet’s mini NASA!) Caddo Magnet High School has started an exciting new club this year as part of our STEAM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Arts/Math) initiatives. The Engineering Club is an umbrella organization made up of Arduino, Science Olympiad, Real World Design Challange, Team America Rocketry Challenge, an... 08/29/2016

CMHS Mock Trial Team wins the State Mock Trial Championship! Fellow graduates, please take a moment to read the great news about the Mock Trial team. If you can help support them in any way, they will greatly appreciate it.

For the first time in 15 years a team from North Louisiana has won the State Mock Trial Championship.

This team is from Caddo Magnet High School. The team consists of 8 students and 2 faculty sponsors. They have been invited to compete in the National High School Mock Trial Tournament, which will be held in Raleigh North Carolina May 15-16. They will need financial assistance to get there. The State Bar Association has in the past reimbursed part of the travel and hotel expense, but has not guaranteed they will provide payment this year. Whatever funds they do provide will not cover the entire cost.

The purpose of this email is to ask you and your firms to consider a contribution to this team to defray the cost of this very worthwhile event. I am one of the attorney coaches (with Ryan Goodwin and Sarah Smith Brown) and must tell you this is a great group of kids from very diverse backgrounds. And they are a talented group that beat a team in the State Tournament that finished 6th in the National Tournament last year.

Any contribution would be welcomed and is fully tax deductible. Any checks should be made payable to Caddo Magnet High School, with a note on the reference line “mock trial team”. I can make arrangements to pick up any check or it can be sent to me or directly to Caddo Magnet High School, 1601 Viking Drive, Shreveport La. 71101.

And if you want to see them in action, provide trial advocacy tips, or lend words on encouragement, they can be found in Judge Charles Tutt’s courtroom in the Caddo Parish Courthouse each Monday and Wednesday afternoon at 4:00.
