Hi everyone, we need some help with a special project. There is a private company working on a raft test in the wave tank July 17-18. I need sixty people that will move from one area to the raft while the waves are being generated. Hopefully without getting wet. It will be eight hour days on Saturday and Sunday. Start time is TBD, but will be around 7-8 am. Lunch is provided both days and pay is $10.00 per hour.
Must be over 18 years old and they are asking that you have proof of vaccination (since it's a large group moving in and out of the raft and you will be close to each other). If you are interested please do not call the store. Please email [email protected] and let me know if you are available those days and if you meet the above requirements.
There is no diving involved, you will be in and out of the raft. You won't be stuck in the raft for hours. The tests usually are less than 10- 15 minutes, but they did say they shouldn't be longer than 30 minutes.
You will be paid from the company operating the raft test, so you won't be working for Scuba Ventures. We are just trying to help out and get the people necessary to complete the test. If you want to be a part of the test and make a couple extra dollars on the weekend please email me by Friday evening(June 26).
Thanks everyone!
Jason

Red Sea 2021. This is the signal you give when you run into schools of hammerhead sharks!

Photos from Scuba Ventures's post 06/10/2021

We had a great time last weekend. Class and pool sessions, open water training, try scuba classes, and a group heading to Egypt!

We also hosted our friends from Scuba Adventures in Plano Texas. They worked on their deep diver certifications. A bunch of rain on Saturday and a beautiful day on Sunday at Lake Ouachita.

Congratulations to our newest open water divers!

Scuba Adventures, we had a great time with you and come back anytime!

Jason

Well it looks like they are all having a good time! I can only imagine the song in the back ground; "walk like an Egyptian." A few more days in Cairo then off to the boat for a week of diving in the Red Sea!

[06/02/21]   Horrible news yesterday of an accident on the water. I always have mixed emotions when dive teams go into the water and have a successful recovery. I am relieved that they were able to safely navigate through the water and retrieve this young person. I am sad for the loss of this person's life and for their friends and family.

These men and women that do these jobs go into very bad and sad situations to get the job done.

I know many appreciate our fire, police and sheriff's departments; but I'd like to take this time to thank all of them today. They risk their lives to hopefully save others or bring closure to friends and family.

Thank you to all our agencies and personnel that keep us safe and I support you 100%.

Almost every agency in our area has been in the water in the last two weeks with recoveries. It's nerve racking for divers getting into our waters in Louisiana. Visibility is non existent and there are unknown obstacles they face. Not to mention the mental anguish of the loss of life they have to deal with their everyday job, but also recovering someones child, dad, mom, etc. So today please pray for our first responders and the family and friends that have lost loved ones recently.

As the water water warms and you go out more and more on the water, PLEASE, PLEASE wear a life vest.

Jason

Congratulations to these new open water divers. It has been a cool and wet May and they battled through the cool waters at Lake Ouachita to get certified.

Also congratulations to several new Stress and Rescue divers from the weekend!

We did a bunch of work on "The Explorer" this weekend. Thanks to Kenny, Jody, Uncle John and Dad for their work this weekend. The boat was pulled out of the water; power washed, new gas tank, roof over the back, new paint throughout, new lights over the dive platforms, and a new galvanized plate on the transom.

I think the staff is going to be excited to be out of the sun on the back deck!

I think we are ready for Lake O certification weekends.

Thanks to Echo Canyon for letting us pull the boat out of the water.

We took advantage of the exposed framing this week and made our mark!

As you can probably tell from the picture, the water in the pool is looking great! We’re having it tested daily and adjusting as necessary. If it weren’t chilly right now, we’d be ready to hop in!

Most of the electrical and plumbing is done, along with the metal framing in the pool area. We hope to start finishing the interior next week along with installing the HVAC to keep everyone nice and cool during the summer and warm and toasty during the winter. 🙂

Keep an eye out for more updates!
