Shreveport Alpha Esquire

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Zavier Nelson. Zavier is the 17-year-old son of Bobby and Ashley Papion. He is a graduate of Parkway High School in Bossier City, LA. While focusing on his academics Zavier also played defensive line on the Parkway High school football team.

Zavier has been a member of the Alpha Esquire Mentoring Program for the past four years. In that time, Zavier has served on several committees within the esquire program. Zavier voiced that, “being in the alpha esquire program has advanced his knowledge on real world applications, time management, and finances.”
After high school, Zavier plans to attend Bossier Parish Community College to major in Process technology. The goal is to use his degree in manufacturing or chemical processing career field.
Zavier would like to give a special thanks to the men of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity for letting him be a part of one of the best programs he has ever joined, the Alpha Esquires. Zavier expressed that in the beginning of the program he was quiet and timid, but after being in the esquire program over the years, that all that changed for the better. Zavier would also like to thank his family for their love and support throughout his years in the program.

Shreveport Alpha Esquire

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Roderick Gaut II. Roderick is the 18-year-old son of Christana Gaut and the late Roderick Gaut Sr. He is a graduate of C.E. Byrd High school. Roderick has been heavily involved in sports his entire life. Alongside of participating in those sports, Roderick donated his time to assisting in youth sports.
Roderick has been a member of the Alpha Esquire Mentoring Program for the past four years. In that time, Roderick has served as Senior Vice President, Sergeant at Arms, and new member liaison. Roderick has also been a member of the Esquire Step team during that time. Roderick will be attending Bossier Parish Community College and majoring in Nursing.
One of the aspects of the Esquire program that Roderick enjoyed the most was the community service projects. Giving back is something he was taught early on in life and he always did it with a smile. Another thing Roderick is grateful for is the family he picked up by being a member of the Esquire.

Shreveport Alpha Esquire

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Rhema Getter is the 17-year-old son of April and Darrell Abraham. He is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School. Rhema participated in various athlete sports such as football, basketball, and track. Rhema has been named 1st team all-district 1-5A in football his junior and senior year.
Rhema participates in many community volunteer organizations. He is a member of the Shreveport Chapter of Top Teens of America where he is the immediate past 1st vice president. He also participated in Delta Sigma Theta male EMBODI youth group for 4 years. For the past 6 years, he has volunteered with the Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition. 3 years ago, Rhema joined Alpha Esquires where he served the community in many volunteer aspects. He currently serves as the sergeant at arms. Rhema will be attending the University of Arkansas Monticello on a football scholarship. He plans on majoring in political science.
Rhema wants to send a special thank you to the men of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity for all the love, support, and mentorship that they have given him over the years. He would also like to thank his esquire brothers for the love and the unbreakable bond they have made.

Shreveport Alpha Esquire

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Nikolas Johnson. Nikolas is the 18-year-old son of Amy Harris and Stanley Johnson. He is a graduate of Airline High school and a member of the 100 Club. Nick is a member of Galilee Baptist Church where he is involved with many church activities, including the drill team.

Nikolas is a part of the Alpha Phi Alpha Delta Upsilon Lambda chapter Alpha Esquires Mentoring Program. During his time as an Alpha Esquire, he has participated in various community service projects, life skill training, college prep activities, and is an active member of the step team. Nikolas stated, “Being in the Alpha Esquires changed him a lot during his 4 years in the group and he learned public speaking and time management”. After High school, he plans to join the United States Navy with the goal of pursuing a career in mechanical engineering.

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Nehemiah Brock. Neo is the 18-year-old son of Lisa Richard. He is a graduate of Loyola College Prep High School where he was a member of the football team. Nehemiah attends church at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Over the previous four years, Nehemiah has been a member of the Alpha Esquire Mentoring Program. Along with being a chair for the events committee, he has been one of leading members in completing community service. Nehemiah will be attending Northwestern State University where he will be majoring in Business and Finance. He plans on obtaining his business degree and becoming an entrepreneur.
Nehemiah says that the community service and the family that was created within the Esquire is what he benefited from the most. The life skill that Nehemiah learned, that he believes will carry him the furthest in life, is the lesson of being a man with etiquette and ethics.

Shreveport Alpha Esquire

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Jayron Small. Jayron is the 18-year-old son of Tracey and Ronald Small. He is also the younger brother of Bro JT Mitchell. He is a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School where he was a member of the football team and track team. Jayron was also a member of the LEO Club.
Jayron has spent the previous five years being a member of the Alpha Esquire. During that time, Jayron has served in several different capacities. He is the immediate past President of the Alpha Esquire. He has also served as Junior Vice President, Social Media Secretary and the events committee chair. Jayron will be attending Northwestern State University and majoring in Criminal Justice. He plans to become a state trooper following finishing his education.
Jayron says what he most benefited from being a member of the Esquire were the life lessons that were taught to him. He also says that learning to be a man and how to make the right decisions are lessons he cannot thank the men of Alpha Phi Alpha enough.

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Jay Hill Jr. Jay is the 18-year-old son of Cheryl Jackson and Bro Jay Hill Sr. He is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School. Jay is an avid basketball player. He has spent the last four years playing basketball competitively in AAU and SPAR.
Jay has spent the last five years as a member of the Alpha Esquire mentoring program. Jay has spent the last two years serving as the co-head of the Events committee. Jay has also served as the Social Media secretary. Jay says the community service hours he gained while serving as an Esquire helped him a great deal. The lesson he feels he learned the most about is Time Management. Jay plans to attend Northwestern State University and major in Health and Exercise Science.
Jay says he is lucky to have been a part of the Alpha Esquire Mentoring Program. He knows that each of his Alpha mentors have helped him better his life. He will continue to use the tools he learned while being a member of the Esquire throughout life.

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Eric Mayshack Jr. Eric is the 18-year-old son of Rozina and Eric Mayshack Sr. He is a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School where he was a member of the Art club, Spanish club, and the African American studies club. Eric spent his free time playing sports. While in high school, he played football and basketball through the school as well as through SPAR.
For the past four years, Eric has been a member of the Alpha Esquire. Eric has served on many different committees during his time in the Alpha Esquire program. He believes he really benefited from all of the community service he has completed by being a part of the Alpha Esquire Mentoring Program. Eric’s plans are to enlist in the National Guard and upon completion of his training become a firefighter and EMT.

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Adrian Turner. Adrian is the son of Anthony and Johnetra Turner. Adrian is an honor’s graduate of Southwood High school where he served as President of National Honor’s Society and Vice President for the class of 2020. He has been a part of many clubs and organizations such as Mu Alpha Theta, Beta club, National Honor Society, Mentoring Club and Student Council. For the past four years, Adrian has been a member of the Alpha Esquire Mentoring Program where he has served as Treasurer and on the Community Service committee. Adrian says that during his years of being a member of the Alpha Esquire, he truly learned what it meant to give back. He also learned the true meaning of brotherhood. Adrian’s plans are to attend Grambling State University in the fall and double major in Criminal Justice and Business Administration. He hopes to one day be a criminal defense attorney.

Shreveport Alpha Esquire

Today we honor Alpha Esquire Devin Hamilton. Devin is the 18-year-old son of Darryl Hamilton and Heather Glover. He is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School where he was a member of the Shreve track team. Devin has been a member of the Alpha Esquire for the past three years. He has served in many different capacities during his time in the Alpha Esquire. Most notably, Devin has served as Senior Vice President and headed several different committees during his time. Devin says that being a member of the Alpha Esquires has helped him by having other adults mentor him who have been where he is and are where he wants to go. Devin believes he gained the most out of the years of public speaking courses he has taken through the Esquire program. Devin is currently weighing his options for three different colleges who are offering him a track scholarship. While running track for the college he plans to earn a double major in Computer Science and business administration.

Since its founding on December 4, 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has supplied voice and vision to the struggle of African-Americans and people of color around the world. Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven college men. The visionary founders, known as the "Jewels" of the Fraternity, are Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelley, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy.
