Happy Tuesday! What are you thankful for today?

Trust: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. This word has been plastered all over the place for me. With my degree coming to an end, it is easy to get the urge to control everything myself but God is giving me the word trust over and over again. Seems like every devotional I read, every scripture that comes across my timeline, every video that pops up in my reel is centered around this word. The Bible has plenty of passages referring to trust. It tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. It tells us to be strong and courageous, do not be frightened, God is with you. It tells us that God knows the plans he has for us and they are plans for future and hope. I know I'm speaking to myself here but trust is necessary for growth. We can try and control things all we want but is that really the purpose God sets for us? Is that the plan he has laid out for our lives? His plan is far bigger than any plan we have for ourselves. When times are tough and there are periods of God will give you the peace you need to make that decision if you just trust in him.
Happy Wednesday
Pastor M, over and out!

With the holidays coming up, I’ve been thinking about a simple fitness accountability challenge.

Who would be interested and what details should we include for the accountability piece? For example: Commit $5 to show 3 workouts in a week for 4 weeks. If you do, don’t have to pay or get your money back. I’ll even play, if I can’t do it I’ll pick someone at random and send a Starbucks or Dunkin gift card to for a coffee or donut or $5 lol

No money input, commit to showing accountability for x amount of time with x amount of workouts, if you don’t do it, you tried your best, if you did it, woohoo! You’re building healthy habits.

I know everyone enjoys friendly competition sooo give me thoughts!

How do we like the sound of that? Start Oct 2?

ATTENTION: 🎥Tuesday Night Bible Study with Pastors David & Paige Divelbiss will be postponed this week due to the July 4th holiday and continue next Tuesday (July 11th).

We hope everyone has a blessed day with their friends & family!

Matthew 3:8-9 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God | New Living Translation (NL 02/24/2023

“Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When reading this scripture, I think about the times we are living in today. I’m not perfect by ANY means..nowhere close but I pray our nation sees an awakening. My word for 2023 is “awake”. I want to be an awake believer meaning I don’t want to go through life with a lackadaisical attitude. I want to be conscious of my faith not passing the days thinking “well I’m a Christian, I’ve been saved, I’m good.” Being awake means I take action with my faith. I am aware of the decisions I make and how they affect my walk with Christ. The music I listen to, the shows I watch, the music my daughter listens to, the conversations she hears…are they giving life to her? Are they waking her up too? Is she seeing me living a life for Christ? Or is she seeing me go through life with the title Christian followed by none of the action?

Not only will my walk and decisions dictate my life but they will play a part in the lives of those around me. Friends, family, colleagues…I want to be someone who pours life into others.

I want to be awake!

Our December challenge has officially come to an end. If you participated with me, thank you! I pray you took as much away from it as I did!

Sending prayers for renewed thoughts and wisdom moving forward into 2023.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Many verses could have been chosen from this chapter but I especially like this one. I take it as my reminder that I am clothed with all these things. The future does not scare me. I know Christ gives me all the tools necessary to succeed not only at the tasks I perform, but the tools necessary to succeed at my relationship with my husband, my role as a mom, as a coworker, etc. As long as I look to Christ, I cannot be afraid and I can fulfill my roles as they have been given to me for Christ and my family.

“Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Such an important reminder when we face tough times. Christ always protects us and keeps us covered in his word. If we remember that he is our shield, we can face any obstacle that comes out way.

“Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As a parent, I want my child to be able to grow up knowing the word of God and understand right from wrong. I want this for me, yes but mostly for her benefit. Children today are being exposed to so much information that is being plastered across toy marketing, shows, etc. My prayer is that by keeping my child in the word and using discipline when necessary, she will understand her actions have consequences and she will learn and grow from those actions.

“When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s no secret that our nation is becoming divided daily. As Christians, we should keep the leaders of our country in prayer. Prayer that they make wise decisions and are knowledgeable concerning their actions.

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are only as good as the company we keep. With the world today, people are longing for relationships. Whether that is on an online platform, in person, etc. People were made to have relationships. When a person begins their journey with Christ, it may not be deemed the “popular” thing but the benefits of a life with Christ are far better than any benefits from a life without. If we are choosing to place ourself in the midst of bad company, it is only a matter of time before we fall short in our relationship with Christ. We must surround ourselves with those people who will encourage us, uplift us, and work towards their own relationship with Christ. Only then will we allow ourselves to be sharpened by those who know a life with Christ.

“Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭26‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Gossip is never a great thing. When we gossip we are opening the door for lies to be spread and we are making ourselves vulnerable to falling into the devil’s trap. If we close the door to gossip, our lives will be much more pleasant and we will not be concerned with the thoughts of others. So when someone approaches you with the intention of gossip, it would be wise to turn the other cheek and keep the door closed.

Merry Christmas! Hope your family has a blessed day!

“Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Why is it that when we are dealing with an issue or facing a major problem, someone comes along and offers us a word and it’s exactly what we needed to hear? God is listening and watching us. If we are facing obstacles, it is no surprise that he will bring us a message of hope. It is up to us to keep our eyes, mind, and heart open to receive that timely message.

“Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Many times if we are clashing with someone then when something bad happens to them, the human flesh response is to be happy because then they are experiencing hardship. We should not have that mentality as Christians. Our job as Christians is to love everyone at any stage in life. If someone treats us poorly, we are to forgive and still love them just as Christ loves us.

I am excited! 😁

'Don’t waste your breath on fools, for they will despise the wisest advice. '

Proverbs 23:9 NLT

Have you ever heard the phase "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink"? Trying to reason with someone who is not willing to take your advice is wasting your breath. More than likely they are set on their path of destruction. Their heart must be open to change. If God has given you the word to bring to them and they resist, we should hold our breath to ourselves. We cannot force anyone to listen and accept advice. Their heart must truly want to accept the advice and be open for a relationship with Christ.

'Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. '

Proverbs 22:6 NLT

No matter how many times I read this chapter of Proverbs, this verse will always resonate with me. Since becoming a parent, I truly understand the importance of my actions. My daughter looks to myself and my husband for answers. The way we carry ourselves and the words we express from our mouths have a direct impact on her growth as an individual. Not only are we responsible for showing her the right path in life, we are accountable to ourselves for maintaining that path. Yes, we maintain the path because it sets our daughter on the right path but we maintain the path because of God. If we truly devote ourselves to Christ, we will gain the knowledge necessary to guide our daughter on her path in life. Parents want their children to have better things and better opportunities in life, by allowing Christ to guide, the path will be made clear and easier to follow.
