This is a GREAT volunteer opportunity.

The Bullitt County Foundation for Excellence in Public Education, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is currently seeking three (3) community minded individuals interested in public education to submit their interest to serve on its board. Since 2011, nearly $60,000 has been raised and distributed to Bullitt County Public Schools to enhance student learning opportunities in our schools.

This is a busy and active “hands on” board of directors. Duties of board members include the following; attend regularly scheduled meetings which are held at noon the second Monday of each month, assist in organizing the annual pre-Derby fundraiser the “Run for the Spirits Gala”, and evaluate funding requests to distribute several thousand dollars annually.

If you are interested or you know of someone who is interested in serving on this board, please contact Judy Cederholm at 502-869-8161 or [email protected] for additional information and/or an application form.

The Bullitt County Foundation for Excellence in Public Education is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide enhanced learning opportunities, through donations, for the education of the students in all public schools in Bullitt County.

Oh my goodness! You mean to tell me the tickets to the 5th annual Bullitt County Foundation for Excellence in Public Education fundraiser on Friday, April 17 are $75 per person this year? Why the increase?
Good question and as the Executive Director of this Foundation, I’m glad folks are talking about it! First of all it is a more elegant event and there will be two live bands for your listening and dancing pleasure.
More importantly, over the past four years, the Foundation has distributed $39,630.38 via grants to our Bullitt County Public Schools. This year especially the Board has seen the dramatic impact these dollars are having on our students.
For instance:
• Elementary students using a “3D” printer have developed a prosthetic arm for a fellow student.
• A middle school will be introducing the art of “plays” to elementary students by inviting them to enjoy a performance of Peter Pan.
• High school students were better able to understand advanced math concepts through an innovative program entitled “Zombie math”.
• An entire elementary school was able to visit “space” without leaving their school building thanks to the portable planetarium from Gheens.
• There are award winning archery teams partially because of an investment of archery materials.
• Welding students are becoming “Career Ready” because they have been provided various safety materials.
• Elementary students have been introduced to Native American and African music cultures.
• High school students have a new appreciation of Shakespeare because of a “Guerilla Shakespeare” program
• A state of the art “buzzer” system was purchased for an academic team at one school.
Bottom line; we are helping teachers get these kids ready for the world!
Dollars are making a difference!
The Foundation would like to invest $20,000.00 this year in innovative learning opportunities. “It’s all about the kids.” That ladies and gentlemen is the simple reason we are asking $75 per person for a fun-filled evening on Friday April 17.
For more information on getting your ticket or to learn more about how dollars are making an impact on our public school students, call me or email me at 502-869-8161/[email protected]
