I am signing up for year 4 of EFM and the online registration requires that I state my gender and there are only two options. I will register when this is fixed. Fixed could be 1)take the question off the form, 2)offer more options than M/F 3)offer more options and don’t make the question required for completing the registration. I’m disappointed in TEC, EFM, Beecken Center.

Check out the next Deep Green Faith webinar from Sewanee's Center for Religion and Environment with professors emeriti John Gatta and Robin Gottfried on September 24, 2020: Beyond “Stewardship”: Redefining Our Godly Place on the Planet.

How exactly should we envision and describe our relation, as human beings, to other creatures and the larger world we inhabit? And what distinctive contribution might Christianity and other faith traditions contribute to that endeavor? How we address such questions in our own age depends crucially on the terms, metaphors, and thought-patterns we choose to adopt. During the session we’ll look to draw inspiration for this inquiry not only from theologians and biblical texts, but also and especially from the imaginative works of noted American environmental writers.

FaithMatters with Bishop Jake Owensby 03/07/2020

Dynamic, wide-ranging, literate, compassionate... The Rt. Rev. Jacob W. Owensby kicks off our FaithMatters event here in Sewanee. How lovely it is to be here together, meditating on the great mysteries of faith and resurrection!

Engaging Ministry: Practices of Prayer, Worship, and Community 03/06/2020

We've had a busy year so far here at the Beecken Center. In preparing for tonight's FaithMatters lecture with the Rt. Rev. Jacob Owensby, we're remembering another group that gathered with us recently to explore faith and ministry. At our Engaging Ministry workshop earlier in February, we explored two aspects of congregational vitality: cultivating practices that invite Christ’s indwelling presence in both ordained leaders and in communities; and processes for creating dynamic and transformative worship that stirs the senses and opens the heart. All Saint's Chapel was transformed, and so were we! Thanks to everyone who attended!

We were privileged to welcome best-selling author Wm Paul Young to Sewanee this past weekend. Paul's warmth, humor, and faith lit up a cold November night in All Saints' Chapel, and his workshop on Saturday gave everyone a lot to think about. If you haven't already, read his book The Shack, or better yet, go and see him speak whenever you get the chance!
