This Saturday, Sewanee RFC is playing Lee at Stringer Field (Big, grassy expanse behind Quintard/Gorgas). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm. Bring your folks! Watch something European!

On a stormy Saturday afternoon The Haze battled through hazardous conditions beating The Vanderbilt Club Rugby team 20-7. Connor McClain was named man of the match.

The Haze traveled to Chattanooga for a 10s tournament, winning two of the four matches on Saturday.

Purple Haze played Covenant again yesterday in a match of tens. 50-24 Purple Haze.


The Haze beat Covenant 70-5 yesterday.


Purple Haze won 50-36 against Lee.


Last weekend Sewanee Purple Haze Rugby Club traveled to Washington and Lee for a tournament. Haze played its first game against University of Roanoke and won 29-5. Connor Mclain was the leading scorer with two tries followed by Ethan Fisher with one try and two kicks Roy Flaig and Zeb Smith also scored one try. Right after Roanoke, a tired Purple Haze Played Washington and Lee’s Screaming Minks Rugby Club. The Haze lost 5-24 with Kurt Delay scoring. During both games solid rugby was played and great sportsmanship was shown. Blaise Iradukunda was named the man of the match for his help on offense and defense. We thank Washington and Lee for being great hosts.

This weekend, the Sewanee Purple Haze compete in the Covenant 7's Tournament. We won the tournament with a record of 2-1. John "Cliff" Clifford led the team in tries(3) and was the Man of the Tournament. Other scorers were Reece Jamison(2), Grant Mckenzie(1), Cal Low(1), and Owen Dankworth(1).
Cal Low led the team in minutes(42) and kicks converted(5).
Congratulations to Owen Dankworth for scoring his first try. Expect to see him naked in the near future
And lastly, Captain Cooper Lewis led the team in minutes on the bench/most time with his shirt off. Truly a leader amongst men.

The Purple Haze lost a hard fought game to Tennessee Tech to open Matrix play yesterday, 17-12. It was a battle all the way through, and despite leading at times, Sewanee came up short.


Rugby Scrimmage Saturday October, 17th. Stringer field 11-12 because Saturday is a Rugby day.


C'mon out to Stringer Field today at 1 to see your Sewanee ruggers take on the boys from Cookeville, Tennessee Tech. Forecasts indicate that it will be a good game.

Today's the day folks. It's the first match of the Sewanee Purple Haze's 2015-2016 rugby season. Come out and support your boys as they take on Western Kentucky today at 1pm on their own beloved Stringer Field!


The first practice of the 2015-2016 season is today at 5 at Stringer Field (behind Quintard and Gorgas). All are welcome.
