[07/31/20] Use QuickBooks Online? One of the best tricks to cut down on QuickBooks Online issues is to set up a different profile (person) in your chrome browser. I have one just for QuickBooks. I only do QBO stuff in there with hardly have any issues. If I do, a simple clearing of just that browser profile fixes it.

Email marketing is an incredibly powerful way to reach new clients. A common question is "Is cold emailing legal?".
The short answer is, under the CAN-SPAM Act, yes. There are some stipulations that are important, however.
1. Don't use deceptive information
This includes mainly things like subject lines and from/to lines.
2. Allow the user to opt-out and honor those requests promptly
Everyone needs an opportunity to decline further emails.
3. Include a valid postal address
This is probably the easiest one to miss. A physical address must be present on the email. This can be your business address or even a post office box.
One thing to note is that the above stipulations are required only if you are sending a "commercial" (mostly marketing) email. If you are sending an email regarding a transaction between you and the recipient, then the CAN-SPAM Act requirements do not apply. To ensure that you continue to receive transactions from American Express into QuickBooks, please complete the steps outlined below.
Note: Only the primary account owner of the American Express Card will be able to update to the new connection:
1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
2. Go to the Banking menu. Confirm that all downloaded transactions in American Express credit cards have been matched or added to the account.
3. Select the Update Connection in the banner.
4. Select Continue and sign in to your American Express account.
5. Follow the onscreen steps. In the COA dropdown, make sure the account you use to track American Express transactions in your QuickBooks chart of accounts is selected. This should be the same account you used before.
6. Select Connect.
Now your American Express connection is up-to-date.
You're ready to get back to business.

Are you still using a QuickBooks 2017 version? You may be impacted by the May 31st "QuickBooks Sunset."
Each year, Intuit “sunsets” an older version of QuickBooks Desktop. This means that certain features of the software will no longer function or be supported by QuickBooks. QuickBooks versions 2018, 2019, and 2020 will continue to be supported.
As an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, I always provide help, support, problem-solving, and training in older versions to my clients. I believe that small business owners should have a choice.
The QuickBooks Sunset on May 31 2020 will affect these 2017 versions of Intuit Desktop Software:
• QuickBooks Desktop Pro
• QuickBooks Desktop Premier (General Business, Contractor, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Nonprofit, Professional Services, and Retail)
• QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions (General Business, Contractor, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Nonprofit, Professional Services, and Retail)
• QuickBooks Desktop Accountant
If you're using one of these 2017 versions of QuickBooks your basic software features will continue to work, but you will lose the following functionalities and services on May 31:
• Intuit QuickBooks Support* - Intuit will no longer provide support for 2017 products either in the form of updates, or requests for technical support
• QuickBooks desktop payroll services (Assisted, Basic, Standard, Enhanced, Workers Comp Payment Service, and View My Paycheck)
• Online backup via Intuit backup services
• Online banking via 'Bank-feeds'
• Critical security updates (no scheduled release or push updates)
• Credit Card Processing (including automatic credit card billing and terminal download) via Intuit Payment Services
• Check processing via Intuit Payment Services
• Accountant’s Copy File Transfer (ACFT) service
• Multi-currency/Exchange Rate Updates
• Bill Pay via Intuit Payment offerings
• Intuit Payment Network related services of any type
To preserve these functionalities and add-on services, you must upgrade to a newer version of the applicable software.
You can get QuickBooks Pro, Premier, or Mac (if using 2016) through me at my cost which is less than Amazon with an Intuit merchant account through me.
If you do not use any of the QuickBooks add-on services listed above or require live technical support, you can continue to use your 2017 version.
Remember, May 31, 2020 is the date upon which Intuit will 'Sunset' QuickBooks 2017 Desktop products. Don't let it sneak up on you if you require add-on services (like Payroll) that will stop working on that date.
* - Exception for QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions with a 'Support Plan' - You will continue to have access to Enterprise support until the expiration of your current support plan.
To ensure functionality and uninterrupted service, I recommend that you install the latest version of Enterprise Solutions by May 31.

Wi-Fi precautions today:
• Don't use free public Wi-Fi hotspots, such as those provided by coffee shops or airports. They are often insecure and targeted by cyber-criminals.
• Instead of using public Wi-Fi hotspots, use your mobile device's personal hotspot. It's far more secure and several mobile providers are providing unlimited data at this time.
• Don't connect to any unknown Wi-Fi network or accept an unknown peer-to-peer connection request.
• Turn off your device's Bluetooth visibility when you're not using it and permanently disable the feature that allows your phone or laptop to automatically connect to available Wi-Fi networks. This protects your device from automatically connecting to malicious networks. It may also save battery life.
• If you need to remotely access your work computer, use a virtual private network (VPN).
