Here is our final project for our dental health unit: a model of a mouth! Made with file folders, pipe cleaners, red paint, Trident gum, Ice Breakers gum, and my trusty glue gun! The unit was a ton of fun and this project turned out great :D

"...The fierce and boundless love that we feel for them. A love that takes us out of ourselves and binds us to something larger. We know that's what matters. We know we're doing right when we're taking care of them. When we're teaching them well. When we're showing acts of kindness.. We don't go wrong when we do that." - President Barack Obama

The Very Hungry Caterpillars 04/19/2012

This is the final project for our metamorphosis unit. We focsed on tadpoles and caterpillars, and read The Very Hungry Caterpillar many, many times! It was onlu fitting that the children made their own mini-books starring themselves as hungry caterpillars that change into butterflies. The areas of learning covered in this unit were: Language Arts: letter identification, retelling a story, writing/drawing skills, realting prior knowledge, communicating information. Math: number recognition, counting, one to one correspondence, sorting, making predictions. Science: investigating and categorizing living things, describing basic needs of living things. General: days of the week.

[02/27/12]   My little sight and smell experts are now learning about taste. Today we looked at all the "taste buddies" on our tongues. Tomorrow, taste testing!

[01/20/12]   PARENTS: due to tomorrow's expected snow storm, there will be no fee for late pickups. Call or text of you are running behind schedule. Drive safe!

[01/18/12]   Half hour of " what time is it, mr wolf?" #numbers #counting #running #screaming

[12/27/11]   I've been wiping noses with Kleenex and toys with Clorox wipes all morning! #coldseason

[12/16/11]   The questions these kids have for our guest speaker, a peditrician, really impressed me:
- Why is there paper on the bed in the doctor's office?
- When you look inside my eye, what are you looking at?
- Why do shots hurt?
...and more! Can't wait for next week's visit!

[12/14/11]   My 7mo woke up with a cold, so 3yo J.B. says, "ooh. We gotta teach her how to sneeze into her elbow!" Germ unit success!

[09/29/11]   Great to see old faces!

[09/21/11]   Our squirrel's official name is Rockasaurus. 3yo JB thought of it. We've been learning a lot about his food likes and dislikes! More on our scientific observations soon!

[09/16/11]   Observing our outdoor squirrel friend. So far, we've figured out he likes almonds better than cheddar goldfish.

[09/12/11]   One out with croup, two showed up sound asleep... hello Monday morning.

[09/04/11]   Happy labor day weekend everyone!

[08/24/11]   Happy first day of school district 54! Wishing students, parents, and teachers a successful and memorable school year!

[08/11/11]   During our walk, we found a great spot to picnic and hang out. Quiet, green, plenty of shade, and even an apple tree! We will be visiting regularly!

08/10/2011

K.P. enjoying her chicken sandwich, broccoli, sweet potato fries and juice!

[08/01/11]   Using scrap paper strips to practice making letters!

[07/20/11]   Sprinkler!!!

[07/19/11]   ZooPals paper plates + popsicle sticks = instant puppet show! Thanks Candice!

[07/19/11]   All the kids were in attendance today. Took not one but TWO trips outside to play games and do some fun outdoor activities! It's hardest to bring them back in on a nice and hot day.

[07/14/11]   While watching clips from "A Bug's Life," 3yo JB yells, "HEY! Those ants only have 4 legs! There has to be 6!" Bug unit success, Pixar fail.

[07/11/11]   Quote of the day, while I was washing dishes: "Mama! My bellybutton is dirty! Put it in the sink."
