At CHA we use the Conscious Discipline curriculum to help children learn how to care for others, keep their body safe and calm and to use words to describe how they are feeling. The adults also do these things!

One of the components in the classroom to show empathy is a "We Care Kit or Center". The goal of the We Care Center is to utilize empathy as a way of classroom life so children learn to read and understand nonverbal cues of distress in themselves and others, and then respond in loving ways. Some of the items in the center could be Band-Aids, a stuffed animal, a bottle of lotion, or a small blanket.

The children in the Oriole room have heard about the We Care Center by reading a book about it and want to get one for their room. This is the note they wrote to the Director!🥰
