School District 54
All District 54 schools and the Rafferty Administration Center will be closed on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, due to the weather. All after-school and evening activities on Friday are cancelled as well.
District 54 makes every effort to keep our schools open, but circumstances beyond our control, such as extreme weather, sometimes dictate that we close. Our top concern is whether we believe the more than 15,000 students we serve and our employees can get to school safely whether they walk, take a bus or ride in a car.
The third and fourth grade students have been hard at work learning how to play the harmonica! #churchillpride #weare54
Hockey was definitely a SUCCESS!!! ALL of the students did a wonderful job during our hockey unit!! #churchillspecials #churchillpride #weare54
Hello Churchill Parents:
Your students have recently brought home an order form from Art to Remember. Art to Remember is an amazing opportunity to purchase your child's gorgeous artwork on a wide variety of items from t-shirts to night lights from coffee mugs to sketchbook covers and so much more. It is a wonderful way to commemorate your child's personality and artistic talent. Due to the MLK Holiday on Monday and inclement weather on Tuesday, we have EXTENDED the Art To Remember deadline for paper orders until Friday, January 19th and online orders until January 22nd. Your orders will then be coming in and delivered to Churchill students during the second week of February. Thank your for your flexibility, patience, and understanding. Enjoy the ART!!
We hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing break! See you in January!
-The Specials Team
The 5/6 Churchill Choir performed their Winter Concert on Wednesday. Huge shout out to the students who worked hard to make this all possible and to the wonderful parents for supporting all of us! It was a fun evening and we had a blast putting it together. If you have any other recordings you would be able to share, please contact me. I always try and put together a big highlight reel for the end of the year. #churchillspecials #churchillpride #weare54
The 3/4 students are finishing up their unit on sea shanties. Here is a familiar song (the song from the last 3/4 video) now with instruments! #churchillpride #churchillspecials #weare54
The 5/6 classes are using their music analysis knowledge to put together flash light routines to match a musical masterwork. After discovering multiple ways we can look at a piece of music (call-out sheets, listening worksheets and listening maps), the class analyzed the form of the song and divided into groups with each group in charge of a different section. This is one of the 5/6 classes doing their routine for the finale from the ‘William Tell Overature’. Next week they teach their routine to the rest of class and we put the whole thing together. #churchillpride #churchillspecials #sd54
The 3/4 students are on a musical road trip through the United States. After preparing patriotic songs for our concert we have been hard at work learning sea shanties. Ask your student to tell you about what a sea shanty is and where the ones we have found so far originate. This video is of one of our classes singing ‘Cape Cod Girls’, a sea shanty from Massachusetts. A little more practice and we will be ready to add instruments to this one! #churchillpride #churchillspecials
