Merry (almost) Christmas from Fr. Pat!

Mary, our Mother, we love you and thank you for all the prayers you have prayed on our behalf. We thank you for loving us so tenderly and teaching us how to love Jesus. We thank you for your "yes" to being the Mother of God and to being our Mother, too. We honor you today and always by living lives that bring glory to God.

¡Viva la Virgen de Guadalupe!

Yesterday was a very fun, special day as we celebrated our annual Posada. “Posada” is a Spanish word that means “lodging/inn”. Las Posadas is a beautiful tradition in which the Church remembers and re-enacts Joseph and Mary anxiously searching for shelter in anticipation of the birth of Jesus. Our students sang beautiful, traditional songs and ate yummy food and had a wonderful time! Huge thanks to Señora Piña and all who helped her for all the hard work in cooking tasty food, practicing songs with our kiddos, decorating, and so much more! Without all of these hard workers, none of this would be possible. ¡Muchísimas gracias! What a great way to prepare for the coming of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ.

We are Mama’s Boys and Mama’s Girls here at Stella Maris Academy. Yesterday, on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, we blessed the new Mary statue that will be placed in the junior yard over the Christmas break. We tenderly look to our dear mother, Mary, as our example of holiness as we strive to be the best versions of ourselves every day.

Mary, Star of the Sea, pray for us.

Today, we had our annual bilingual Mass! One of the many things we take pride in as a school is that, starting in TK, our students take Spanish classes and learn all their basic prayers in the Spanish language. Ask any of our kids to pray the Lord’s Prayer in Spanish, and you’ll be amazed! Thank you so much to our amazing Spanish teachers who take joy in teaching the language to all our students!

As always, we have a lot to be thankful for this year! Firstly, we thank God for all of these blessings because without his love for each of us, we would not have this wonderful school and parish community. We are thankful for all of our amazing students who show up each day with smiles on their faces and open minds ready to learn! We are thankful for our dedicated teachers and staff who tirelessly and faithfully give their all for the education of each student. We are thankful for our fearless leader, Mrs. Moss who, at the end of this school year in June, will finally be able to reap the rewards of her years of hard work in her retirement! We are thankful to Fr. Pat our pastor who is always very supportive of our school and all our efforts. We are thankful to all the parents and families who play a huge role in the learning process of each student. We are thankful for all the generous benefactors who put the GIVE in Thanksgiving! May we never take any of these blessings for granted and may you all be blessed today and always! Peace ✌️💙🍗🫓🙌

Earlier this week, we posted about Mrs. Zack completing the 3-Day Susan G. Komen Walk. We're still in awe of that FOR SURE! We also found out that one of our own stellar sixth graders, Scarlett, volunteered the entire weekend, too! That's three days of volunteer work the first weekend of Thanksgiving break! WAY TO GO, SCARLETT! We are incredibly proud of you! Thank you for demonstrating what it means to be part of our service-oriented community!

This weekend, our very own Mrs. Zack accomplished a major feat! 3 days and 60 miles later, she proves that with hard work and determination, we can achieve even the most seemingly impossible goals! Mrs. Zack, we are so proud of you!

Happy Veterans Day! For all the heroes who have kept our country safe through the years, THANK YOU! You are all deserving of all the recognition today and always. Your bravery and selflessness is the perfect example of what Jesus says is the greatest form of love.

“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” —John 15:13

This past Friday, our Girls Volleyball team joined forces with UCSD's Women's Volleyball team for a night of fun! Our girls ran out on court, participated in a mid-set activity, and even scored some autographs from the players. So proud of our awesome team! GO STELLA MARIS ACADEMY! 🏐🤩

Spirit filled week with Halloween, All Saints Day, All Souls Day culminating in the one thing that sets us apart from other schools: Jesus. Thank you, Jesus, for everything you are and everything we fail to thank you for. Thank you for loving us unconditionally and for being the best teacher and best friend anyone could ever have.

All Saints Day at Stella Maris Academy was a great success! What a fun day! May we always remember the Saints who lived before us and how we, too, are beautiful art pieces of God, our beloved Creator. 😇

Did someone say pumpkin patch? 🎃

Kudos to some of our newest altar servers! We love seeing our students serving at our beautiful parish of Mary, Star of the Sea!

No school today means no Mass. 😢

Our world travelers are back safe and sound! We will be sharing some of their awesome excursions (and maybe even stories!) in the days to come! Anyone else jealous? 😍😍

Throwback to a fun week of camp with our Sixth Grade class! Sounded like they had a blast!

“Ms. C, Could you please take my picture and send it to Fr. Pat?”

Everyday at noon, we pray the Angelus. The Angelus is a special prayer of the Church that helps us to reflect on the moment when the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would be the Mother of Jesus. What a perfect way to pray during this month of the Holy Rosary!

(By the way it’s pizza lunch day so that’s why our students are wearing their awesome spirit wear!)

Just some everyday learning at Stella Maris Academy! Have seen happier students?? ✏️📚

Taco Fest was a wonderful success! So much fun and lots of great, tasty food!! Muchas gracias to Señora Piña for all the hard work you and your team put in to make today extra especial!

Mark your calendars! Our girls will be standing with the team during the National Anthem, running out during the lineup intros, delivering the first serve, and participating in a fun mid-set activity! We're so excited! Hope to see you there! 🏐

Girls Volleyball is among the many sports our students at Stella Maris Academy can be involved in! More than 75% of our students participate in at least one extracurricular sport! We know the value of keeping our bodies healthy and active! 💪🏃🏐
