Last week, we had an incredible opportunity to hear from a dynamic leader in industrial real estate development Badiee Development Inc and we very thanks for such great insightful conversation . From transforming Otay Mesa into a logistics powerhouse to navigating forward sales, entitlements, and land acquisition strategy, we got a deep dive into what it really takes to build—and hold—value in today’s volatile market.

Key takeaways:
• Industrial development is a long game—timing land acquisitions right is where the biggest gains are made.
• Unique ability structure = lean, efficient teams where every person owns their specialty—from legal to leasing to construction.
• Forward sales were once a developer’s dream, but shifting interest rates now make them risky business.
• Otay Mesa remains a critical hub for cross-border trade with growing demand for truck yards and warehouse space.
• Relationships with brokers still drive deals—AI can help, but it won’t replace human insight.

Thanks again to our speaker for pulling back the curtain on what it really takes to make deals happen in today’s market.
More to come—stay tuned!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an insightful and inspiring session with Nate Cadieux, President of Moniker Hospitality + Real Estate, at our Real Estate Development Insights event.

Nate shared invaluable lessons from his career in development, drawing from projects like Liberty Station and infill redevelopment in North Park. He emphasized the realities of navigating zoning changes, aligning creative design with investor expectations, and the critical importance of humility, preparation, and continuous learning.

We walked away with practical, experience-driven advice on how to break into and grow within the industry:

• Master your numbers – Understand financial models and be ready to defend them.
• Lead with clarity – Communicate the value of your project, not just its features.
• Stay humble and curious – Ask questions, even the “dumb” ones.
• Invest in growth – Choose early opportunities based on learning, not just pay.
• Build with intention – Real estate is about creating spaces that connect people.

Nate’s transparent and grounded approach to development reminded us that success in this field comes not only from technical skill, but from a genuine commitment to community, purpose, and personal growth.

Huge thanks to Nate and all who attended—this is exactly the kind of conversation that bridges classroom learning with real-world impact.
