In the middle of July, I returned to Dallas (my home town) and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet many of the approximately 75 people who attended my presentation, "Overcoming the Trials of a Lifetime." I continue to be amazed at two things : (1) how warm and friendly are the people in the Lone Star State and (2) how people can live right through 7 digit temperatures in that dagnabbed Texas summer. I think it was Thomas Jefferson who wanted a wall of separation between politics& religion and Facebook. ;-)
That is why I created this Virtual Pulpit page. I wanted to reach out to my Christian brothers and sisters but avoid the controversies and arguments of the greater social media world.
After a few years of a post here and a post there, it is now time to step on the gas. Why now? Because I've written a book and it will be published in just a few weeks.
The book is entitled, "Overcoming the Trials of a Lifetime". It is about finding meaning and joy when struggling or just surviving life's afflictions and hardships, such as chronic pain and illness. In the book, I share many stories of the trials I've already had and those that still must be endured, such as how I've coped with Parkinson's for 20 years now and counting. The book also contains answers to our questions about God's rule and role in all of this. Despite the seriousness of the topic, I'm reassured by my advance readers that the book is uplifting and a "joy to read."
The book will be released approximately one month from now. It will be on sale at all the usual places (Amazon, Kindle downloads, Barnes & Noble, etc).
